I hear you; I just don't think it's true. The goobers are gone for good. They let the mask slip and they liked what they saw in the mirror. They are all in; they have committed to trading democracy for white male privilege.

So we need to stop caring about the goobers, and start figuring out what will get the 50% who sat out in.

I thought my mom was always going to be a Republican, even though she's socially liberal. I think the GOP has gotten so nutso, that she's starting to back away slowly. We need to hoover up more people like her. Twenty percent of the GOP does not support Trump, and I hope if we run someone they don't perceive of as too scary, we can get their votes.

Even more astonishing to me has been finding out how many mental health professionals are Trumpets. It is not the majority, for sure, but that still surprised me. Doctors (physical health-ER medicine especially) seem to lean right. I have worked alongside some doctors who are absolute shit humans; I have worked for (and see) ones who are genuinely in it for the purpose of improving lives and are disgusted that healthcare is not seen as a human right in the US. I applied for a job at Kaiser Permanente when I was desperate, and I am glad they did not call me for an interview. I have heard from some good doctors who will not work there because of they way they are forced to limit patient care; mental health is even worse there. Patients in the Kaiser system only get one session every 4-6 weeks with a therapist, the standard of care per our professional guidelines is weekly until functioning improves, then a gradual taper to spaced out sessions.

I just don't believe it. If a person couldn't vote for Obama, they are lost to us forever. Hillary is almost excusable - the GOP spent 30 years trashing her - but anybody who won't vote for another woman or POC will not vote for a Democrat, no matter how bad Trump gets. Because they have already made their allegiance clear: WMP comes first, everything else second.

They're not happy about it, but they will still do it. Roy Moore lost because those moderate Rs voted 3rd party. Not because they voted for a Democrat.

On the other hand Connor Lamb won by being Republican-Lite, so I see your point. I still don't think it will work, though.

My dad and step-mom have it as their Medi-Care supplemental insurance and for some reason think it is "5-star" as a provider. They screwed up her first back surgery and she is recovering from some sort of hemolytic anemia that nearly killed her; but she was all impressed that she was finally able to see several specialists to see her. In my opinion, it took way too long for any of that to happen and she does not have an actual diagnosis.

My mom is going to vote for a Democrat for the governor of our state this year. I truly never thought I'd live to see the day. I actually think she voted for Obama in 2008, but only because Republicans had blown up her money. She did NOT vote for Trump, because duh, he's a fucking idiot. She couldn't bring herself to vote for Hillary, since she's such a criminal mastermind. I pointed out to her that Hillary has somehow managed to evade indictment after hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent investigating her every bowel movement. My mother said "well she's not stupid." I think if nothing else, she's starting to realize that Democrats don't blow up the economy every time they're in power.

(I know this thread is old, but I can't resist.)

A comma between the adjectives also solves the problem:"an incompetent, evil asshole" is the same as "an incompetent and evil asshole"...(OK, going back to reading the Chicago Manual of Style for fun...)

I just liked the cadence, but you're right - the comma solves it. As usual.
