The FBI has been hard after the Clintons for decades. They got nothing. The 'liberal' media and the GOP were reduced to pulling things out of their ass, like Benghazi, which was painful. The bottom line is, they have nothing on Hillary. Trump, on the other hand, has to be white-washed daily just to keep up the appearance of a white-collar criminal instead of a regular crime boss. At some level, they may prefer to have a president who is compromised, in case they need to jerk his chain. They certainly went to extraordinary lengths. Maybe it was Hillary who had the establishment panicked, not Trump.
For a guy supposedly leading the opposition, this isn't exactly heartening. Then again, Pompeo is far from the worst of the shitheads Trump is naming. My (faint) hope is that he's keeping his powder dry, and has some GOP senators willing to work with him where it matters more.
