This afternoon, the President declared a Public Health Emergency in response to the epidemic of opioid overdoses that is killing 170 Americans every day. Which is all well and good. We're certainly not opposed to allowing doctors to treat patients in Appalachia over Skype. But it's just a lot of one-handed clapping if you're not going to spend any more money on the problem.
My husband died of cancer a few years ago. It was hard to find a pain killer that worked, and when we did, it was hard to acquire the medication. He needed more than they gave him, and every month I worked my ass off to make sure he got his meds every 30 days. Sometimes I had to change pharmacies, sometimes people were picketing pain clinics we went to. Yes, opioids are a problem, but people who are sick deserve whatever they can get. Fuck the war on drugs.
Power ties. Hazelnut coffee was a new thing. There was no pumpkin spice anything. No one wanted a lime in his beer and you could still smoke indoors. It was a simpler time.
IRL I have an oncology practice and I work with pain specialists. I am in a state that has medical cannabis and will soon have recreational as well. I have no problem prescribing anything my patients need for counteracting the problems and difficulties caused by radiation and/or chemotherapy. And pain? Hells yeah. Cancer is a bitch and we should fight it with everything in our arsenal and that also means helping the patients cope with the bad side effects of the drugs and other "therapies" we put them through to get rid of the cancer. And for your feel good Friday a patient came in today and is now in remission for 5 years and just loves the 4th grade. Cancer sucks.
oxycodone in percocet form is soo much cheaper than the long acting proprietary narcs (funny how that is, PURDUE!) I'm not in that person's body so I can't tell them to "suck it up." My duty is to alleviate suffering, not judge their pain by my standards.
>> So if we can keep them from going on and maybe by talking to youth and telling them: No good, really bad for you in every way. But if they don’t start, it will never be a problem.
So Big Poppa T's gonna pull up a backwards chair and sit down to rap wit' "da yoofs"? Sounds like a legit response to a complex crisis.
'Moonlighting' reboot
and millions of us on election night.

C'mon Wonkette. We all know it's not a problem until white people are affected. That's just science. (and politics).
Right? he's a genius! And no money spent! Winning all around!
Now I'm going back under the bed. Don't come and get me unless you have pizza and maybe wine
LO fucking L

And Cocaine Fiends. That's a good one as well.

Where's Jared??? I thought the opioid crisis management job fell to him.
"why are there so many songs about rainbows, and what's on the other side?"
Maybe because reality kinda sucks when you are impoverished and you are blamed for your circumstances.
Fat Freddy sez: "Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope."
I think Fat Freddy had the answer all along.
not that I doubt that, but do you have an actual citation?
[I never removed my shoulder pads; it just doesn't fit right without them.]
