I certainly am as well. I'm just taking issue with the idea that what he's doing there is no more than

Nobody sees it as anti Christian if they say "I'm getting crucified here." The identification is with the oppressed, not the oppressor. His comment isn't glorifying gas chambers. It's not even the typical right wing punching-down. It's just another lame attempt at playing the victim.

The conspiracies that Huma is Hillary's secret lover and that she has a body double she uses to trick the media both make Clinton sound much cooler to me, so they're easy to forget are supposed to be negative.

Understandable. I didn't really expect universal agreement. I just thought the general tenor around the response of "OMFG, can you believe he said that!!!" was overstating it a bit. Of course I can believe it. These are genuinely awful people who say even more awful things on a daily basis. I'd rather focus on those.

It just didn't sound to me like it was some sort of anti-semitic dog whistle. It sounded like an overly entitled sack of shit rich-kid brat whining that any inconvenience to him is worse than fifty Hitlers. The irony of anyone connected to that campaign using any sort of nazi analogy makes it worse, but I certainly don't expect them to suddenly develop any self awareness now, and "It's always projection with these people" is a cliche for a reason.

Well, except it's sort of defining deviance down, don't you think? What he's essentially saying is being factchecked as a political candidate is equally as serious as and motivated by the same things as genocide. Kind of der Sturmer, don't you think?

Yes and no. I don't think that was the actual suggestion. It was hyperbole. In poor taste, over the top, with a stunning lack of self awareness, Godwin gold medal winning, but hyperbole nonetheless. Unless you think he was truly suggesting that someone from the media would actually, literally come and put them in gas chambers. I didn't really get that from the article, but I could be wrong.

He's certainly comparing the two, to try to gain political sympathy, I suppose (How'd that work out for you, Shitbiscuit Jr.?). That's a shitty thing to do. See my other comments re: co-opting others' suffering, misappropriation, and playing the victim. And I don't think that should be defined down. I don't think he should get a pass on this just because he's often more horrible yet, don't get me wrong.

I certainly don't think he was generically equating the two. I'm sure he thinks that any fact checking done on the other side is just fine, thank you. That's why I say it strikes me as Little Donnie throwing a tantrum at the very suggestion that he might be asked to play by the same rules as others. Obviously, his reaction to the idea of a level playing field is to try to move the goalposts as far as possible. The level of projection in the original comment is truly phenomenal. I mean, come on:

The media has been her number one surrogate in this. Without the media, this wouldn’t even be a contest, but the media has built her up,” Trump Jr said. “They’ve let her slide on every indiscrepancy [sic], on every lieComing from the campaign that has, from day one, relied upon an entirely complacent media willing to give them as much free airtime as they'd like, and call bullshit on anything from made up throngs of cheering Muslims on 9/11, to accusing an opponent's father of being involved in the JFK assassination, to... oh, fuck it, you know... exactly zero times, makes the whole damned thing offensive. That he can make that statement knowing full well that nothing before the Holocaust reference will get so much as a twitch from the lapdog media he's pretending are howling at his gates might be just as offensive to me as his being a nazi enabler claiming the mantle of genocide victim. At least he's being called out on the latter. And he should be, like Carson, Huckabee and Bachmann before him. The ADL tweet seemed appropriate, if a little too measured and polite.

I guess I'd just like to see the press warm up a fire to hold their feet to once in a while.

It does when you think of it in the sense of pre-heating an oven...

Or maybe he's doing the narcissist thing of saying something horrible, then trying to pass it off as a joke and then getting off on saying something horrible and getting away with it.
