Last year I joined the AARP after 2 of my students (in their mid-twenties) told me anyone can join, they were members, and they thought the discounts were a totally good deal, even for them. I just checked out AMAC, and they offer a discount on MyPillow products. Okay fine also all kinds of insurance policies--some of which I've never heard of before tho and I can't get quotes until I sign up. Which I won't.
I'm older than dirt, and I refuse to join that Trump-based group of scary old people. One offered to come to my house to talk to me. These are not sane people.
If someone like Trump was ever invited to my church (Christ Church-St. James British Methodist Episcopal Church, the oldest Black congregation in Canada), I'd flip a table like Jesus did,in the temple. I'd be so angry!
I'll bet that this pastor will not hear the end of this from his congregation, who clearly decided collectively to stay away from this farce.
Trump should keep doing things like this - it will provoke a lot of Black people into voting to keep him out of power.
"Trump was at the 180 Church to participate in a roundtable, ostensibly with the Black community, we guess? ...
Meanwhile, the pastor of 180 Church, Lorenzo Sewell, admitted that most of the Black people he told about the upcoming event laughed in his face."
I keep coming back to that this was a regular rally for the Fulvous Flatulence except it was held in a predominantly Black church: another ingratiating move/sop to the Black community to go along with his earlier greatest hits like: "I've been indicted and had my mugshot taken, so I'm one of you now [it's common knowledge that a little over 90% of all African Americans are thugs with a rap sheet, including children]," and "I've done more for Black people since Abraham Lincoln, and maybe even including him," and his recent chart-topping hit, "now that I'm a convicted felon I can relate to the persecutions y'all have been suffering under since the Antebellum, or at least as I learned it from many viewings of D W Griffith's "The Birth of a Nation." [And I'm appealing that, and I will be exonerated because... rigged trial, corrupt judge who hates me, and the Biden Crime Family; but I can't say this part out loud because it would spoil the narrative.]
Sorry for meandering, earlier posts of mine point out that the good pastor putting the "round table" together has jeopardized 180 Church's tax status. He was walking around pre-event wearing a t-shirt that said "Make Black America Great Again." The event was moderated by Byron Donalds (if it was for the locals, couldn't Pastor Sewell find a local to moderate?). At the end of the circus the pastor
This is my favorite song, all the fake Black people and Black doorstops behind this fool. Can't even do the tokens right but there's the benefit of their rightwing media human centipede.
On the other hand you can tell Joe Biden is actually comfortable with Black people. Black people are seeing through this. Remember there's a lot of chaos agents online.
That's it right there. I remember this. And that kind of thing means a LOT.
All people of Biden's age have had to navigate their privilege and have made missteps. Kamala Harris checking him at the debate was a moment that spoke highly to me, because I think he appreciated that and could take that feedback, and that's why she's MVP now. It's all about what you do in making sure you put in the work.
This is why I love, for example, when conservative jerks trot out the "Oh Robert Byrd was a Klansman!!!" and they ignore that Byrd actually took accountability and *put in the work* to atone. He didn't, you know, just change from Southern Democrat to Southern Republican.
I have to wonder how many churches were approached before the PAB campaign finally found one with a pastor stupid enough to be be hoodwinked into doing this.
"Any luck yet?"
"Nope! I've called sixteen pastors this morning and they all laugh at me and hang up."
"Keep at it. There has to be one somewhere in Detroit. There are over 600 churches with Black pastors in the area. There has to be one we can con into doing this."
"Boss! Boss! Over here! I think I found one! She didn't laugh at me. She says she'll do it!"
"A woman? Even better! Reel her in already! Have you got her name?"
"Yeah. Her name is Reverend Rebecca and she operates a Covenant Community of Wonkette Evan-Gelicals."
"Sounds great! I've never heard of that one but at this point we can't be too picky."
"She says she will shower us with all kinds of blessings!"
"They all talk like that. Just get the address and remind her we charge her for us to show up."
I am an AARP member and every time I get one of their surveys in the mail or even online I give them crap for them presenting Trump's alleged before presidential elections as if he actually meant them. The gall to put them on the same page as Hillary's and later on Joe Biden's stands when they know he's lying through his teeth! There should have been factchecking done and shown.
I’m well aware of Ms. Harris. Back then I considered writing her a letter asking that she stop embarrassing Katherines Harris everywhere. I did get a free pen out of it, though.
I see a red hat and I want to paint it black...
Jumpin' Jackass, it's a gas, gas, gas!
There's a song somewhere in that ...

TBH it looks scammy as fuck.
Ta, Gary. What a shitshow.

"Sewell ... closed with a prayer that praised Trump for raising more than $50 million for his campaign after his conviction on 34 felonies." (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/06/15/trump-black-church-detroit-crime/)
There is no doubt that this was a partisan political event, and Sewell didn't even have decency or moral convictions to call it what it was.

I saw more black people in my house today. And I'm the only black person who lives here.
Lolololol!!!
" I see White people"!!!!!!!!!

Awesome post from Laurie Goff back in the day: https://x.com/HawaiiDelilah/status/1236770736196313089

Right? I saved it and never forgot it. And yep, exactly so about Robert Byrd.
“It was not an outreach, it was an in-reach."
Was it a reach-around?
Rappin Ron Reagan got CHEESE for you!!
Diapering Don gonna CUT that cheese!
No doubt there were LOTS of Black people at TPUSA, where they were handing out "White Boy Summer" (don't ask) tee shirts.

There's always the Four Seasons Black Church Inc.!
"Why are you letting the Devil in our Church"?
Says it all...
Trump should understand that Spinal Tap has taken exclusive rights, in perpetuity, to the use of the term "hellhole".
Well, until he's in one anyways....
AARP isn't exactly a hotbed of liberal activism so I'm not sure why there would need to be an organization that further right of it

They support Social Security and Medicare pretty hard....with money AND votes....
That may be true but they have NO FUCKING IDEA that there are older people who DO NO play pickleball
I'll allow it....
“Cruella De Vil impersonator Kellyanne Conway”
Surely Kristi Noem is the go-to Cruella De Vil impersonator?
Kellyanne looks more the part. Kristi Noem looks more like that creepy screechy live-in GF of Donnie Jr.
Why not Both?. gif
During the 2000 Bush vs Gore fiasco in Florida, it was the FL secretary of state, Katherine Harris.
I’m well aware of Ms. Harris. Back then I considered writing her a letter asking that she stop embarrassing Katherines Harris everywhere. I did get a free pen out of it, though.
"Subscribing to Wonkette is so simple that even Donald Trump could probably do it. Maybe."
Geico Caveman libelz
Were Diamond and Silk (minus Diamond) there?
I beleive the Diamond was on the Pastor's wrist...
