Lol. COVID demonstrated how corrupt and/or incompetent the media are - the future is citizen journalism and these big, centralised media outlets are going to become irrelevant because nobody trusts them (rightfully)

MAGA is a lie-breathing terror regime. Any entity with a truth-seeking mission must be silenced for Trump and Miller and Russ Vought to fully implement their agenda.

I use Wikipedia often, and have donated (my jewelry money!). I will continue to do so. If you can, so should you, since nothing like it exists and the threat truth poses to MAGA is existential.

Fear not this is all just zone flooding in cover for the "budget deal" where the Republicans are essentially defunding everything but the military and ICE to give everything away to the billionaires in tax cuts. Today's Krug-stack. https://paulkrugman.substack.com/p/an-interview-with-bobby-kogan

I've been ranting for some time about the improper use of the word "conservative" People calling themselves "conservatives" today are anything but conservative. They do not fit the description neither by Webster's definition nor by formerly accepted political science terminology. A "conservative" is someone who is somewhat resistant to change, and will accept change only after the proposed change has been thoroughly examined and found to be beneficial. The MAGA agenda hardly fits that description, as it demands swift radical changes without much concern for possible negative outcomes.

So why "conservative"? Simply put, it's a nice sounding word which imparts a certain level of intrinsic respectability. The MAGA agenda surely does not fit that description. Rather than being dependable and trustworthy it is fraught with chaos and uncertainty. It's always been Donald Trump's business protocol. Just do something and see what happens is his MO. Well and good perhaps if managing a golf course, but potentially disastrous when applied to something as large and complex as the Federal government.

Unfortunately, the MAGA agenda does not conform to any easily recognized political science definition. It contains elements from all over the spectrum, with emphasis changing on nearly a daily basis. It is in reality a form of radical populism employing crony capitalism as the economic system. A perversion of socialism in that the same people who own and control economic enterprises also control government agencies which regulate them, putting the fox in charge of the henhouse. A system which of course only benefits the fox.

Unwary voters, who like to think of themselves as decent, honest, hard working people will be drawn to the candidate labeled as "conservative" They're duped into supporting the candidate who they believe shares their values, yet in fact does not. Trump's appeal to religious people is a glaring example. He is the ultimate materialist who has never shown any interest whatsoever in spiritual matters. The antithesis of the values established by all three of the dominant Abrahamic faiths

Misuse of a single word may seem at first to be a small matter, but it definitely is not, and is at the very heart of the success which has been enjoyed by the GOP over the past three decades. Words have consequences and word win elections.

“the rage is aimed every bit as much at the latte-sipping EV drivers (even worse if it’s a Volvo EV!)”

Uh oh. I like latte (but prefer iced “coffee beverages”) and we just got an EV (to be delivered soon). Told people at the office we were looking and when someone mentioned Tesla, we all had a good laugh at Nazi Boy and his crappy swastikars.

We ended up with a very difficult choice between the Mini Aceman and the Volvo EX30. It was close, but Volvo was the final choice.

Should be safe from raging MAGAts since I fled the increasingly Christo-Fascist Holy American Empire years ago.

12.4 cf cargo space??? I wish they'd stop advertising small hatchbacks as "SUV's"

my 2010 Jetta Sportwagen has something like 30CF with the back seats up, and 66 with them down. Which I remain eternally pissed that VW originally planned on making EV versions of both the Golf and the Sportwagen but then decided not to.

They actually had Kevin Roberts (head of Heritage) on the other day, in a craven move reminding me so much of the way NPR/PBS caved to the right back in 1995 to the point there were PBS stations running Rush Limbaugh's short-lived TV show. Didn't make the bastards like them back then, won't work now either.
