The thing is that a lot of the Left are actually convinced that Pelosi, Schumer and even Biden will eventually roll over if Trump rigs the election - that is, of course they'll sue all the way to the Supreme Court, but they'll give up at that point, they won't actually take to the streets Belarus/South Korea style, they'll be too "chickenshit". This is what the leftover Berners actually believe.

"apartheid level fascism" - what exactly do you mean by this? Actual apartheid laws, i.e. black people will be evicted from the cities and lose the right to vote?

I'll try not too. I'll stay away from Tiffany's.

Actually Trump is so awful good things are happening in reaction. Look at Harvey Weinstein, that Epstein guy (the dead one) and that Maxwell woman. And with Randy Andy there could be another Royal Scandal! Renewable energy is doing much better, and the continued low gas prices are nice. I mentioned that Vox article that says we could get off reliance on gas and oil in 15 years, but The Dotard would have to be gone for that to happen.

More women are running for office. More women in Congress are speaking up. did you see all those women running for Prez? Stacy Abrams is a star. The Post Office is a mess, but without the rain we couldn't enjoy the sunshine (Dolly Parton said something like that).

More people are politically aware and active. Some are MAGATs, but Covid may take most of them. Things have been worse, and are in a lot of the world.

Every day is a new adventure. Maybe stay off the Wonk for a day to decompress.

I'm admittedly not familiar with how it works in every state, but at least here in California, you can also drop off your ballot at a polling place or another "vote center" if you don't want to rely on the post office to get your ballot in in time. That may be the safer bet to ensure your vote is counted, particularly if you're in a state that won't count ballots that are received after Election Day.

The Senators and Reps will get yelled at by people getting SS checks late. I know a number of them rely on their check getting deposited on a certain day for them to make other payments.

I know everyone's cheering for Vote By Mail these days, but....

If you have Election Day off, go vote in person. Wear a mask if necessary at the time.If your polling place is close enough so you can stop by on your way to or from work, go vote in person. Wear a mask if necessary at the time.If your Town Hall is open a few days before Election Day for in person voting, go vote in person. Wear a mask if necessary at the time.

The less your vote is being "handled", the fewer the chances are that it can be screwed with.

I think we can avoid true fascism. At least for now. It will hinge on the election.

I keep reminding myself of all the people who got up every morning and carried on in the slave and Jim Crow South, in Stalin's Russia, in Nazi Germany and fascist Italy. One endures.

I voted by mail in the primary. It was weeks before the result for my district; Carolyn Maloney won over perennial challenger (and shameless catfisher) Suresh Patel.

Election Day is a holiday where I work. I'm putting on my medical-grade mask and voting in person. The results in NYC may be a foregone conclusion, but I believe every vote counts. Biden should win in a landslide, and let's take the Senate and keep the House while we're at it.

Do you have a good mask?

The thing I'm most concerned about---and that Donald's allies in the press and the GOP are most excited about---is that this is going to be 2000, only to the nth degree, with no clear winner on Election Night. The Republicans already have a multi-lawsuit strategy ready to go, in which the minute the polls close they will challenge the results of several dozen elections instantly: several that will be key to the EC vote for president, but the others in order to guarantee that they hold the Senate majority. They expect right wing, Federalist Society judges in targeted federal courts to move this swiftly up to John Roberts, who will decide as the Court's Republican majority did in 2000, to stop the count wherever it allows the Republicans to win.

Their propaganda machine---which includes Fox, Facebook, and also, God help us, the Chuck Todd crew in the mainstream press---is also itching for this narrative. Their propaganda machine isn't even waiting for the election---they're already shit-stirring like nothing I've ever seen before. They are ready for a lynching.

STOP TRYING TO MAKE VOTE BY MAIL HAPPEN!It's too late, Lukashenko Trump has installed his henchmen in all the relevant posts. Wear two masks and a home made face-shield, stand 8 feet from the person in line ahead of you, bring an alcohol soaked paper towel for the touch screen and vote in person.

I have several masks, I wear a mask just to cross my hallway to throw out the garbage. I just would have preferred to vote by mail if it had come early enough.

You know, as annoying as it is to watch and witness, I'm glad Trump has poor impulse control, narcissism and is such a swaggering braggart. As mean-spirited, sadistic and right wing authoritarian as he is, his diarrhea of the mouth just can't keep his Machiavellian plotting a secret. With this, at least we know what he is up to.

Great idea. I'm in a small town in Northern California too and that is how many of us plan to vote here; leaving our ballots in a secure drop box.
