Installing Mapquest on the phone was an easy choice for me, as IMH-retired technical trainer and support-O (Apple) Maps was frustratingly non-intuitive and kludgy to use, and Google’s always tries to steer (SWIDT?) you to installing *their* app instead of staying in the browser.

It's long overdue, but I've started to slowly de-google my life.

Then I need to work on extracting myself from social media and find decent alternatives to Amazon.

Google's search engine has become unusable, and now they're fucking up their maps.

Remember when IBM were untouchable until they weren't?

Typo in the story. The Welland Canal is named after the Welland River and harkens back to a river in the UK (as many old named things in Ontario do) not Scott Weiland - dead lead singer of the Stone Temple Pilots.

Now I want to listen to Purple.

I got into it with Gemini (owned by Google, of course), was trying to argue that Google Maps simply uses government data to retrieve geographical data, therefore any name changes not not under their control.

Time to burn it all down.

"“apologizing” for their previous “deadnaming” of the lake"

Hey, and here I thought I hated Rubio and everything he touches as much as I possibly could, and this happens. Have I mentioned yet today how much I HATE THESE PEOPLE?

Apple will cave. Tech companies WANT fascism. It will allow their continued efforts to rule the world. For that they need DATA CENTERS and for that they need Dear Leader because the American people aren't enamored with having them in their backyards. Dumpster Fire is lobbying hard for them. I assume he'll work with Congress to pass a law authorizing these companies to TAKE LAND AND RESOURCES for data centers. SCROTUS will think that's just fine because the same people own them. Yay us!

It would seem that if Google really wanted to do things "correctly," they should put the name used on each side of the border that runs through the middle of the lake.

Every single thought I had after that I could not type, because it's either forbidden by the RFCR or by federal, state, and local laws.

Downloaded Mapquest. Now I just need to find an alternative to Gmail that isn't run by fucking fascist diaper huffers.

I really hope that Carney's next team of negotiators are all grumpy Quebecois who speak l'anglais with a very thick Joual accent.

Mapquest doesn't work with Android Auto. I did try Waze in which case my infotainment center froze and I had to reboot the car (its a Bolt EV, I had to disconnect the 12V battery then reconnect it).

Also its WELLAND canal not Weiland, stupid Americans.

Unfortunately Mapquest's Android app isn't available in the UK, but once it is I'll download it. It's pathetic how eager Google is to comply with Trump's whims.
