Just a thought in passing: I just spent a painful halfhour grazing the net for Trump stuff, for Ghislane Maxwell stuff, for those horrendous 'detainment camps' that jackass has spent our money on, all of it. I can no longer look. Everything he touches crumbles into mental decay and pain. I thought we might make it out of this alive and at least breathing, but now I wonder. He is taking his cues from Hitler's song book, page by page. And I sincerely hope the people who elected him get a chance to visit those camps, those alligator traps, those torture places. Possiby live there for a few weeks.

If this upsets you, don't look. Seriously.

She started out well, I watched a great many of her shows, but over time it became more about her, and less about anyone else. She got fancy, spending too much money on expensive items and then complaining about the quallity. I lost interest about then.

What does that mysterious 0.1 hour of television viewing consist of? They just gotta see one more commercial? What?

Holy hell, I ignored as much of what was going on in our country for so long with only short small check ins to keep my anxiety and panic attacks in check and now my random political check in makes me feel like we are on an episode of dr Phil 1😶

I miss the real dedicated newsmen, all the way from the 50s and up. Watching Walter Cronkite wiping his eyes as he reported Kennedy's death, or Huntley Brinkley, sardonic but honest...it's been so long since I even SAW a tv program, I'd probably just be horrified. Or bored. or something. I guess my TV now is the computer. Trouble is, you can't knit to the computer. =)

I usually get my news lol from reading articles like these(with occasional links connected to them) and sometimes YouTube podcasts(if my husband has it on), otherwise my husband fills me in about what's going on with the world outside of our house(my anxiety, heart, and overall health can't handle dealing with stress overload lol).

In a way, while I miss having a TV these days, I so do not miss Oprah, Dr. Phil, the nightly disaster (news) with the Orange One, and get most of my news online, no commercials, no videos of Trump being Trump. Trouble is, I had to give up knitting and jigsaw puzzles, since I can do neither without the TV to distract/entertain/encourage...

Administrative costs are probably one of the largest contributors to clinical waste, although no one has actually studied that yet. What is known is that genetics, accidents, and the environment you live in are much greater determinants of your health than so-called life-style choices.

Ta, Robyn. They're not running DC like a business, they're running it like a TV "reality" show. Sigh.

I quit a job once that I really hated. At my going away party, they served carrot cake.

I hate carrot cake. I think they knew that.

Kids have been hospitalized for liver damage because parents listened to Brain Worm Bobby’s advice claiming that measles can be cured with cod liver oil. Because MAHA is the worst ever.

Forget not that anyone who listens to anyone but the doctor in a situation like that is already in deep trouble...I suspect if a Famous Person told them that you could cure cancer by eating egg shells and cinnamon, they'd do it...

Why wouldn't a national health program not include diet and exercise programs? At one point ours (Mexico) has been among other things pumping out commercials on the benefits of fruit and vegetables over junk food. And includes nutrition training and diet assistance at the local clinics. And exercise programs, etc.

policy makers fundamentally miss the most obvious things, because they have no ability/empathy/experience to guide them in making decisions for anyone outside of their set. they don't understand that telling someone who earns minimum wage in a country that prides itself on not paying a fair wage to anyone no matter what to eat healthy is unattainable in many cases - cheaper/less healthy) food is more affordable. when you're working three jobs to keep a roof over your families head, the fatigue and stress has health impacts. you can't look at a single aspect of a person and make decisions about 'what is best' or policy to mitigate that person's situation - people are complex, their living conditions are complex - but of course rich white people writing policy don't have the nuance to grasp that - sorry, in a ranty mood today

tl;dr? these people suck

So according crackpot Oz, eating healthy will be the end all be all of never getting sick. But in order for poor people to eat healthy, they need food assistance. Healthy, fresh food costs a lot more than a Big Mac. So no, eating healthy for poor people is not an option unless they do some dumpster diving behind the supermarkets and restaurants He probably thinks that’s what they deserve for the sin of being stuck in a cycle of poverty.

Not my point. My point is McDonalds is way cheaper than healthy food. Especially when you can use SNAP

That is true, though they also just cut a bunch of funding from SNAP. Can someone ask the charlatan in charge of Medicare and Medicaid how people are supposed to eat healthy if they are broke and their meager food assistance was eliminated so billionaires can get a tax cut they don't need? Even with SNAP, people had to go with less healthy options for a variety of reasons, with cost being a major one.

This is more just blaming and punishing poor people for being poor, as if it is some moral failing and not a systemic one. I hate it here.
