trump just turned down Oregon's requests for help with raging climate fires. trump causes climate change with his archaic policies (designed to benefit his wealthy oil and coal donors), then he refuses to help victims of the changing climate he's causing.
Funny thing is, the current climate fires are in the red parts of our mostly blue state.
Another thing that just happened in Oregon: An extremist group (backed by mysterious out of state money) tried to get an initiative on the ballot outlawing hunting, fishing, farming, ranching, anything that involved animals. It would have even banned us from killing rats in our homes and restaurants and put restraints on veterinarians. No 4-H, no tribal rights, no nothing. All meat for stores and restaurants would have had to be shipped in from out of state. Oregon is, of course, a huge fishing and hunting state, and much of our economy is dependent on that, not to mention our famous dairy farms, like Tillamook Cheese and Ice Cream in Tillamook, Oregon. Talk about raising the price of eggs- we'd have to have those shipped in, too!

As for the red voters, some of whom wanted that part of the state to join Idaho (which would give them fewer benefits for their tax dollars), I get the impression they would rather "stick it to the libs" than use any kind of common sense. Every election, they get upset that there are more people in Portland than in their remote towns and feel they are not represented. One vote per person, no matter where you live.
I think the Greater Idaho movement is still on the ballot in some counties. I'm thankful my coastal county voted no, which was surprising given our State of Jefferson history.
I didn't realize any coastal counties were in on that! I know there are many red voters along the coast, and when we look/dream about moving to the coast, we pay attention to voting stats. (I'm in the outer PDX area, so while we have our share of red voters, we still shine mostly blue!))
