In preparation for today’s TABS, I awoke depressed at the thought that global assholes are whispering us all into a cynical, hopeless despair, harboring distrust in our institutions and communities so we are all isolated from one another and each of us are only for ourselves. Well, my local paper is a bit pissed about the way the OK state health department is handling the local measles occurances, writing:

"OSDH’s decision to stop emailing notifications comes along with a significant retraction of federal oversight of the disease. U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has implemented changes that many public health officials said are hampering efforts to contain the measles outbreak, now in at least 11 states, according to the Associated Press. Kennedy has continued to raise questions about the efficacy or safety of vaccinations, according to AP. He has called the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine — a shot known as the MMR given to children to provide immunity from all three diseases — 'leaky,' although it offers lifetime protection from the measles for most people, the AP reports."

Whatever "leaky" means. The paper goes on:

"Meanwhile, when pressed about how not releasing the information about measles exposures, the OSDH reiterated that the public has to go find out about the warnings on their own time.

“'The OSDH is committed to informing the public about potential exposure settings and promptly posts these notifications on our website upon identification,' the department responded. 'Once a setting is posted, the information is shared through our state and county social media channels. Our centralized measles information hub empowers Oklahomans to directly access the latest updates.'”

Well, if your like me and not on social media, you're tucked. I guess the MAGA GQP RWNJ replacement for NEWS is social media. Great, just what the world didn't need.
