Well, it isn't pretty. Here are the first results of the night. So far, Sen. Mitch McConnell wins re-election. Sen. Lindsey Graham wins re-election, which according to Very Serious Journalists means he's practically president already. Gov. Nikki Haley wins re-election. And in West Virginia, the first Republican pick up of the night, Rep. Shelly Capito is the state's new senator.
Welp, starting next year I will no longer have representation in Congress. My blue state redrew my home CD to guarantee a seat for an R, (thanks guys -- no really, thanks) and tonight it paid off, and "we" (they) elected a dyed-in-the-wool Teabagger. But of course she won't be my representative nor will she represent my part of the district. She'll represent the hardcore repuglican sections that were added to this formerly blue district after 2010. Again, thanks Albany Dems! No really, thanks!
Our polls were supposed to close about an hour ago, but one rural county had massive turnout and is still voting. That does not bode well for us liberals here.
Unfortunately, I'm doing a client party, so I get to remain sober while I watch all of them get hammered dancing to horrible music. Worse yet, the party just got extended
The one bit of amusement I've found tonight is that Edwin Edwards has survived to a runoff. (He'll be beaten like a redheaded stepchild.)
