Good idea! I'd also propose connecting the two, for example, set the maximum wage at 10 times the minimum wage.

I understand. I know I was hearing through my own personal filter which right now is angry and hurt about how I'm being treated. I'll get over it; it's just raw right now. I'd say it's not fair, but as you know, saying something in the military isn't fair is like saying the sky is blue.

They always downsize personnel when whatever war we're in winds down. As for automation -- yes, there's the big shiny computer technology stuff. But the military also likes redundancy. In the Navy, we have fancy computer navigating software on the bridge, but everyone who works there is also trained in the old manual systems (and we have smaller bridges than commercial ships with more people on them at any one time too). For a while the Navy was wanting everybody cross trained so they could get by with less people, but that didn't work out so well because they're backing away from that now.

Ah, but taxes are clearly budget related, so this shouldn't be a problem.

We have to pry it out of the hands of their accountants, lawyers, and the banking havens in which they hide it.

Wealth in large amounts becomes perversely is easy to hide.

Transactions are hard to hide - both real estate and financial instrument - because there is a registered legal formal change in ownership.

A massive 100% tax on yachts, personal planes, and third homes (because people in Congress all have 2 residences by necessity), and any home left vacant in a market like SF, DC, LA, etc would be hard to escape.

A generic wealth tax is straight-forward to avoid.

Yeah it is fabulous.

I hope it works.

Bring back the estate tax! 99% after the first ten million.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. And it isn’t fair. The brown stuff rolls downhill and smothers us folks at the bottom. I don’t know if there’s any appeal process to save your pension but it’s sure worth a fight. I’d also get your VA disability percentage as soon as you can. Good luck, shipmate.

That does it. If I have to pay this tax, I'll just stop investing once I've got 49 million. Suck it libs.

IIRC, I you get kicked into the Alternative Minimum Tax, that can happen. Never an issue for me, so I could be wrong.

The number of idjits who also think the government can just make money out of thin air. They really don't understand how it works when it's not back by gold and silver. And the number of people who seriously think that the tax will punish the "real job creators" and crap. Like, they're still regurgitating the same shit they were fed without looking at the facts.

He could raise the salary of all his workers & find that money in his couch cushions. I'm SO hoping that AL goes union. I recently read that he's on his way to becoming a trillionaire, & someone who is not me recently called that a MORAL FAILING. Couldn't agree more. Ugh, I HATE capitalism.

When I worked in aerospace I had a rather attractive blond gal as a manager. She was encubicled right over the partition wall from mine. I was working on a crash project and was tired & etc. as I usually was. I also, have an on-again off-again sense of smell. So, one day, I was sitting there doing the tedium of a software release when I had to pass gas. Really bad. Being on a deadline, I forewent the trip to the can that I should have taken. I just relied on my chair to filter the enormous giant escaping torrent of assgas. Since, I could not smell at the time, I put no further thought into it.

Until my boss arrived, with a disgusted, irritated look on her face.

She wanted to know when the fuck I was going to finish the software release.

At the time, I wondered about getting a charcoal pad for these rather frequent crash jobs. That' and changing my diet.
