I've heard of rock operas and now I am aware of rock ballets.

Thanks!

Years ago I'd seen a room full of these babies at the San Diego Zoo., Children's Zoo nursery...Bouncing off the walls literally. Walking on the small lip of the windowsill...boing, boing, boing....playing king of the mountain. Oh, so cute...

FTC:

Sens. Todd Young (Ind.) and Ted Cruz (Texas) are leading Republican efforts to brand June as “Life Month” during the already celebrated Pride Month, which honors the achievements and culture of the LGBTQ+ community.

“Every human life is worthy of protection, and it is especially incumbent upon Americans and lawmakers to protect the most vulnerable among us. Designating June as Life Month is a recommitment to the American principle that every life has dignity. I call on my colleagues in the Senate to swiftly pass this resolution.”

Trump is for he and Xi!

Toot, this morning: "I just concluded a very good phone call with President Xi, of China, discussing some of the intricacies of our recently made, and agreed to, Trade Deal. The call lasted approximately one and a half hours, and resulted in a very positive conclusion for both Countries. There should no longer be any questions respecting the complexity of Rare Earth products. Our respective teams will be meeting shortly at a location to be determined. We will be represented by Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Jamieson Greer. During the conversation, President Xi graciously invited the First Lady and me to visit China, and I reciprocated. As Presidents of two Great Nations, this is something that we both look forward to doing. The conversation was focused almost entirely on TRADE. Nothing was discussed concerning Russia/Ukraine, or Iran. We will inform the Media as to scheduling and location of the soon to be meeting. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

As I said before, we can solve so many of our current problems with some well-timed wedgies. All these little Musklets Elon left behind are in desperate need of one.

So what I got from the Sam Harris post is that Elon is a petty, petty bitch, and he is now nursing a grudge the size of Jupiter against the Taco administration and any Republicans who voted for the Just Die Already, You Useless Eaters budget bill.

Pass the popcorn, this is going to be a fight for the ages.

What I got out of it was that Sam Harris is an awful person--he's totally down with the GOP line on immigration and "wokeness" for example--but he was not dumb enough to downplay COVID like Musk (and Trump) did.

(Regarding the techdirt tab)

So are the DOGE bros ruining NSF scientific research on purpose? Do they think they will drive real scientists into some imaginary Galt's Gulch where they will invent unlimited energy and supersteel and whatnot with paperclips, pluck and badly dug outdoor latrines next to their mud huts?

St. Harlan Ellison once said that the two most common elements in the universe were hydrogen and stupidity. But it was St. Frank Zappa who pointed out that the stupidity has a longer shelf life.

Speaking of COVID, I saw a thing where Meghan McCain is hawking some kind of pill that supposedly reverses all the bad things the vaccine did to you. It's expensive.

I have a question. Will the $5000 DOGE (pronounced “douche “) checks add to the deficit?

Expand full comment
TalentNotAutotune's avatar

Anything and everything from the GOP adds to the deficit.

I'm pretty sure that since at least Kennedy, every Democratic president has left office with a lower deficit than they inherited, while the opposite is true for Republican presidents.

Expand full comment
JCfromNC's avatar

The pattern of Republicans raise the deficit, Democrats lower it has held since Reagan. I'm not sure if the deficit went up or not under Carter, though, and a cursory Google search isn't making it easy to tell.

Yeah, I am not seeing near the same results on my Gulf weather searches this year as last. "Surf" predictions for wind and air pressure and what seems to be a travel related site on sea temps come way higher than NWS or NOAA stuff. Actually, the NOAA stuff seems much more limited than before.
