I remember reading a huge tweet thread, I think before that, where someone had evidence of all this, including something about Peter Thiel paying someone off to get Elon a degree he didn't earn from a reputable school. The degree was also in business and not tech.

If you are part of the in-group; laws are there to protect you and your possessions, they never constrain you or the in-group.
If you are in the out-group; laws are there to constrain and legally bind you, they aren't ever intended to protect you.
