Oh, hey, I just realized something on rereading my own damn post. Pinning it here since it's sort of bonus content:

The EPA claims the Clean Air Act only applies to pollutants spread “through local or regional exposure,” preventing EPA from imposing limits on greenhouse gases “based on global climate change concerns.” There's nothing in the Clean Air Act actually saying that, so they made up an artificial restriction on the EPA, claiming it can't regulate American emissions that go beyond our borders into the global atmosphere.

Yes, kids, they're claiming EPA can only regulate AMERICA FIRST pollution!

Saves them the trouble of considering the tens of thousands of unAmerican people killed by heat in the past few years alone.

As they strive manfully to RESTORE AMERICA'S ENERGY DOMINANCE!!!! (whatever that entails) they also seek to satisfy MAGA's infernal demand for revenge on tree-huggers, vegans, permaculture freaks, windmill fans, supporters of the John Muir Trust, New Agers, old hippies, etceterafuckingetcetera

Searched the whole fucking thing, and the word "warming" doesn't appear once. That's how willfully blind these fuckers are pretending to be.

Earlier this week Ocala, Florida had 2 days of 117 temps. And that was not the heat index. (Ocala is in North Central FL.) So Hell, yes. let's do away with the EPA. Who needs a nuclear disaster when we can boil ourselves like the proverbial frog. Hey, the buildings will still be intact. Think of it as lowering home prices.

The American people don't give a shit about clean air or global climate science or anything related to the environment. They proved that in the last election.

Fox "News" tells them it's not a thing. And that's the extent of their "knowledge".

They certainly proved their ignorance of facts and situations. Ignorance can be bliss. Or the holders of ignorance might not realize that they are actually frogs in a pot that is steadily approaching a boil.

Considering how much Republifascists enjoy calling immigrants "aliens" and project their traits onto their scapegoats, combined with their hatred of planet Earth displayed by their bizarre pretence that climate chaos is a hoax, I must conclude that Republifascists are aliens from another planet. Return to Mars, needledickbugfuckers!

I remember the first time I changed the EPA's name to the Environmental Persecution Agenda was when Dubby Shrubby Poo squatted in the White House.

As a scientist, with morbid curiosity I read the linked DOE report. It is the Fox News of science reports. Completely biased, but hides it well by sounding expert and citing some reasonable sources (e.g, the ICCC). One giveaway, aside from reaching the obviously desired result, is that it keeps misinterpreting legitimate data. “Ooh, look, CO2 emission didn’t increase by as much as some projections!” while eliding the plain fact that CO2 emissions continue to climb.

The first good use for chatgp:

"Write a 10,000 word essay refuting the EPA's recent decision to reject the endangerment finding. Include references to the scientific literature. The tone should be that of a private citizen who believes the endangerment finding should be upheld."

Have at it!

In the early '60s, there was a song Paved Paradise, said "gimme spots on my apples, but save the birds and the bees.

It's Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi.

🎶They paved Paradise, put up a parking lot

With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swingin' hot spot

Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone

They paved Paradise, and put up a parking lot.

They took all the trees, put 'em in a tree museum

And charged all the people a dollar and a half just to see 'em

Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone

They paved Paradise and put up a parking lot.

Late last night I heard the screen door slam

And a big yellow taxi took away my old man

Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone

They paved Paradise, and put up a parking lot

I said don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone

They paved Paradise and put up a parking lot

They paved Paradise and put up a parking lot

They paved Paradise; put up a parking lot.

That's from memory so I may have mixed up a line or two.

I and my other climate activist friends will be leaving comments. LOTS ABD LOTS of comments.

Ironically right as I was reading this a swallow tail butterfly flew over. The man and I were surprised and thrilled. We lament the loss of insects that typically mark the seasons at the house and the loss of the birds that depend upon them. I know no one likes spiders but we do and haven’t seen a single widow this year. Whether one likes that or not, the loss of those just gives you a little peak into the collapse. I know we all miss the pollinators. And granted a lot of this is due to Neonicotinoids but that’s under the EPA as well I would presume and the overuse seriously needs to be addressed.

Steps off soapbox..

We have lots and lots of bugs at the pied-à-nuage. We're in the protected watershed of the Delaware River, so not a lot of pollutants. Our milkweed is full of monarchs, and last week I photographed a moth that looks exactly like a miniature bat. It's called a small eyed sphinx.

I love the Sphinx moth! We have a butterfly bush that attracts Hummingbird moths too. We actually thought about trying to plant milkweed to see if we can attract the elusive Monarch. Thank you for preserving this space for them all!!
