The pill is different, since it is something women have to take daily to be effective. But the pill has been around for over 60 years and studies have not found significant quantities of in WWTP effluent.
It would be great if governments responsible for water quality cared about keeping substances harmful for health out of drinking water supply. The compound effects are enormous. Picking on one drug for hidden reasons to scare people is bullshit. Now I’d love to see that it’s not legal business as usual for funeral homes to put down the municipal drain the drained contents of humans during the embalming process.
One of the goofy parts of all of this is that whatever teensy little trace amounts of anything that gets excreted has to survive the sewage treatment plant, then be returned to river or stream, evaporate up into the clouds and turn into rain and be harvested into a municipal water supply and then sent to your house and tap. It's not like folks are directly drinking your excrement unless, as other wonketeers have pointed out, you're RFKjr. Yes, yes, I know some people's water supplies are those rivers and streams downstream into which the treated effluent are returned, but, c'mon, man.
