It all translates to the same thing: I don't have to listen to you.

Maybe I'm little biased because after tfg was elected she came to my neighborhood and spoke and I was impressed with what she had to say. It is true that it's not really clear what a Public Advocate actually does. It seems to be a training program for those wanting to hold higher office in NY.

“4,000 miles from Cubans who are trained to kill me.”

What a weenie. I can go to Key West where there's plenty of theatre and eat breakfast 90 miles from Cuba.

I wore a bullet proof vest for 22 years and protected the people of this city. When you do that, then you have the right to question me.

Only a cop can question a cop. Just as only a soldier can critique the military. Just as only a billionaire can question the intellect of other billionaires. They are examples of The Chosen few. The rest of us are contemptible, small things without benefit of the Special Knowledge.

Also fuck this guy.

I remember that! It was The Bay Times. The "goons" were SFPD - on duty, as I remember. One issue was whether one could "steal" a free newspaper.

"The Bay Times, a gay weekly, ran a cover story in May 1992 about Mr. Hongisto's ordering of the arrests of 2,000 demonstrators after the verdict in the first trial of four policemen accused of beating Rodney G. King in Los Angeles. A front-page cartoon showed the Chief holding a nightstick in a lewd manner."

A Few Good Men is a particular favorite of mine. Here's the quote: "I eat breakfast 300 yards from 4000 Cubans who are trained to kill me, so don't think for one second that you can come down here, flash a badge, and make me nervous."

That was public education, before angry idiots could storm school boards and ban books, wasn't it?

Be good if we could refuse to be shot, as well. White moms in Portland tried that. Got rubber bullets for it. Illegal kidnap by unidentified forces, also, too.

Cruelty is OK if it only happens to a few?

Me, I want to be one of the ones that walk away from Omelas if I can't fix it.
