My dad was religious, but he did not like holy rollers. The Methodists tend to rotate preachers, but if we got one of those, he would find another church.
Singer and songwriter Bobby Fuller was born on this day in 1942. As Marshall Crenshaw so aptly put it, "Bobby Fuller, my favorite rock star ever to be murdered by gangsters." Fuller was killed under "mysterious circumstances" in 1966. Here he is with a song of his that Marshall himself later covered, "Julie":
I took a VERY nasty fall a couple of days ago. I quite literally landed flat on my back onto the linoleum kitchen floor, just a couple of inches from having would up in Cat the Ripper's water bowl.
It was NOT a dignified moment within this crooked gimp's relationship with gravity. And, for any of the record keepers out there, it continues to hurt like HELL in a few places.
Be glad that you didn't fall forward. I've read that people falling forwards try to break their fall with their hands and end up breaking their wrists.
When I was in college and poor, a wedding gift to a friend was an agreement to take her wedding pictures with her agreeing to ask her MIL to pay for the film. I went to the church (Evangelical) and when it was over asked MIL for the 70 dollars for film, and she literally grimaced and walked away, never heard from her either. I hope my friend divorced her way out of that fucked up family.
One of them started in with a black coworker about how they could run and play basketball because of the extra bone in their legs. We (me and my black friend) were absolutely gobsmacked.
Hamilton did Adulting This Afternoon. Alice and I conferenced called with insurance again today and we all lived to tell about it!! I'm still shaking from nerves but I'll get over that. I'm still avoiding doing weed to help with the anxiety because of weed-caused night sweats.
Here is Clark Monster taking a break in the front room after leveling it for me. Next on his plan is to level the back room again.
Alice is a legal secretary so she does phone stuff good. And she has enough patience to deal with me because I can be a real headcase when I get anxious.
Good on you. This is wreaking havoc with me. All because evil private equity monsters Black Rock bought majority into United Healthcare and Humana. Give you one guess who has a large financial stake in Black Rock.
I'm gonna be calling Aetna tomorrow or Monday. I'm assuming it'll take a while - one million ppl got booted from their Medicare plans, so the phones are bound to be burning up.
Mr. Goat losing his "Extra Help" for prescription coverage needs to be dealt with before the end of the year, but I'm having a wicked week, so it's gone on my "Not Today Satan" procrastination list for now.
I've got this tabbed as a starting place for hopefully some assistance and information. See if your state has a SHINE program. It's my understanding that many do.
Me too this week. So close to booze relapse, but at the end of the day my ana wins bc of the calories :) Someday I hope we have peace and security again and economic prosperity.
I've been in and out so many times, I should have a Blue Book with a doggie door installed. I did have 17 years once, until I didn't.
Bright side? It's not as bleak as that sounds. I'm too old & in too much pain to get drunk. I'll have a few and shuffle off to bed at 10.30, like a freaking old. :)
explains why New Mexico's civil action against Epstein's trustees could be significant: beyond seeking documents, litigation may allow attorneys to question people with firsthand knowledge under oath and examine the financial structure of the operation.
When I was like 7, Deacon Dad got worried that my little brother and I weren't "Saved" yet. Little brother was around 4. So Dad gave me the family Bible, little brother his Army pocket-sized New Testament, opened to a selected part, and told us to read and come back to him to talk.
I dutifully read as instructed, and went back to Dad with questions. He got that look on his face, I was treading dangerous waters by questioning, but I still asked - "Why did God let Satan hurt Job's family?"
Dad blanched. He had meant to open the bible to "John" and especially had wanted me to read "John 3:16" but the fool needed glasses and was too vain to get them so my introduction to reading the bible was the Book of Job.

Oddly, the story of his death does not involve Morris Levy.
Brame Klezmer TMie Again!!
Today is Clark Monster's turn to judge from The Judgement Box. He's exuding the 'tude today.

If CM fits in the Judgement Box, CM sits (sprawls) in the Judgement Box.
It's a box. If it doesn't fit, a sledge hammer is deployed. Typical engineering type.
See that bailiff over there (points to LF)? Not your friend.
LF is bailiffing from atop the Refuge Jail today.

He's rather pleased with his grown up self now.
He's delightfully insufferable.

*winces miserably*
I took a VERY nasty fall a couple of days ago. I quite literally landed flat on my back onto the linoleum kitchen floor, just a couple of inches from having would up in Cat the Ripper's water bowl.
It was NOT a dignified moment within this crooked gimp's relationship with gravity. And, for any of the record keepers out there, it continues to hurt like HELL in a few places.
It made me cry. I do NOT like that at all.
Be glad that you didn't fall forward. I've read that people falling forwards try to break their fall with their hands and end up breaking their wrists.
I hope you recover soon!
Sending best wishes. Hugs might hurt.
I worked with a sleeper cell of fundies back in the 80s; they were not nice people even then, now? this doesn’t surprise me. Disgusts me? Yes.
Scum.
"worked with"?
Yes. Once one gets into management, the whole place becomes infested; nastiest people I ever knew.

The horror, the horror...

OuterSphere by Lionsgate must be doing a thing with killer clowns, now they have "Gingerclown" on.
I could easily see being able to show 36 - 48 hrs. of psycho killer clown movies, it is after all a whole genre.

Well done, Hammy!!
And I’m glad CM is keeping that front room in shape.
All of the edges in the front room are now rounded.
It's a big deal to face anxiety Hammy, you did well indeed.
Alice is a legal secretary so she does phone stuff good. And she has enough patience to deal with me because I can be a real headcase when I get anxious.
I'm glad you have good help. :)
OMFG, that pic! He's so gorgeous! And those back feets!
I want to hug him and squeeze him and call him George....before he claws my eyeballs out.
He rarely claws. But he bites. He never bites me hard enough to draw blood. Almost never, that is.
Good on you. This is wreaking havoc with me. All because evil private equity monsters Black Rock bought majority into United Healthcare and Humana. Give you one guess who has a large financial stake in Black Rock.

I'm losing the whole goddam thing. The Medicare PPO that has zero out of pocket for anything, and even puts food on the table.
One million people are going through the same [exact quote] "to protect corporate profits".

I am present and accounted for. That's the best I've got for now.
Apologies to anyone who was around this morning, when I sounded borderline suicidal during TABs hours.
Me too this week. So close to booze relapse, but at the end of the day my ana wins bc of the calories :) Someday I hope we have peace and security again and economic prosperity.

I get the worst part first thing in the am, minutes out of bed.
Congrats! You suffered through another day!
And adult beverages are on nigh in, lessee...49 minutes. Heh.

It makes me think of a line from "Pollock" where Krasner says to Pollock, "Jackson, you've busted it wide open."
Regarding Evan's post earlier today about Trump going to Mississippi to talk about Jon Husted's ass: https://www.wonkette.com/p/if-trumps-going-to-mississippi-to
Kamala Harris is in Mississippi campaigning for the Democrat. https://bsky.app/profile/emptywheel.bsky.social/post/3myio43hiqs2i
I assume she's not there to talk about Jon Husted's ass.
I'm honestly surprised that evangelicals haven't written their own bible to make Jesus into a genocidal warlord. I probably shouldn't give them ideas.
I'm surprised that David Barton hasn't done his version of the bible starring Macho Hunk JC!
Maybe that's where "Onward Christian Soldiers" came from
"messing their kids up with purity culture"
Just a reminder, "purity" culture is just grooming with different guilt trips applied.
still amazed Mandy Moore's peeps ever let her get anywhere near Saved! Jenna Malone and Macaulay Culkin already knew they were going to secular hell.
I *love* "Saved!". I went to public school in the Houston suburbs, and I still recognized, if not actual characters, every *characteristic*.
And yes, I put it on the Movie Night List ages ago. :-)
When I was like 7, Deacon Dad got worried that my little brother and I weren't "Saved" yet. Little brother was around 4. So Dad gave me the family Bible, little brother his Army pocket-sized New Testament, opened to a selected part, and told us to read and come back to him to talk.

I went rock climbing today, which helped my mental state enormously.
Unfortunately, also pulled a muscle. But totally worth it.
I’m so glad! I was sorry you weren’t able over the weekend, and you’re feeling low. Glad you were able to get out there!
Exercise is the most powerful weapon against depression, ask me how I know!
