I happened to hear a Florida news show on NPR today. The reporter who got the leaked grand jury report was interviewed. One thing I learned was that the report would normally be public, but the people in the report had 15 days to object to its release. And who was the one who objected? Mr. James Uthmeier, now AG, former DeSantis chief of staff when all this went down.
Asked about the report by a reporter:
James Uthmeier: “This has been a politically motivated witch hunt driven by the Democrats and the far-left Democrat state attorney in Tallahassee. This hoax has been debunked time and time, and time again. I’m not allowed under Florida law to comment on the report, so I can’t say if it is true or not, but if it is indeed true, it shows a couple of things. First, it shows there was no probable cause found that anybody did anything wrong. I’d also, if we need, if this report is true, and it shows that the Democrats had to collude with the press to break the law and release a document that is not allowed to be released under the law just to show that a far-left Democrat state attorney is incompetent, then I don’t think we have anything to worry about. A federal judge on Thursday once again temporarily prohibited the U.S. Postal Service from carrying out a plan to restrict mail-in voting, put in place after a directive from President Trump.
Judge Indira Talwani, a Federal District Court judge in Massachusetts, had cleared the way for the Postal Service to move forward just the day before. But on Thursday, she issued a new order concluding that the agency’s plan, released late on Friday, appeared to overstep its legal mandate and could spark chaos by changing rules fewer than 70 days before an election.
She wrote that a group of Democratic-led states that had sued “face irreparable harm where they are required to comply with a likely unconstitutional regulation for which compliance is practically impossible as to the 2026 midterm elections, now little more than two months away.”
“Most plaintiff states have already ordered their mail ballots, and some are required by state law to send them to eligible voters as early as next week,” she added.
She wrote that while the Supreme Court had “admonished” her on Monday that the Postal Service had not finalized any changes when the groups sued initially, making court action premature, the stakes had changed since then because of the step the agency took Friday to formalize its plan...
Judge Talwani had to wait for a new filing (made on Wednesday) to be able to order a halt. Once the USPS published the rule change, the door opened to halt the whole thing. Now the Scurvy Six will have to go AGAINST their own recent rulings about interfering with the states and the constitutional separation of powers. If they're smart (they're not) they will punt this until after the mid-terms.

Republicans don't know how to campaign except to promise to save you from the failures of government. Even if that government has been theirs for decades.
