Probably for the same reason that nobody mentions Reed Smoot any more. Nobody gives a fuck.

You said stiff.

All things considered, I would prefer the Melania train.

Ms. Lindsey was delightfully...umm...pointed in his comments I thought.

The comment took me in a whole other meaning of train.

There have been quite a few times in recent years where I wish we had a parliament in lieu of a congress. I'm sure there are folks from UK or Australia that would enlighten me that things are just as jammed up in that scenario, yet having to herd all of these varied trapezoidal pegs into one of two round holes doesn't seem to be making most people very happy. Sure, there's always the idea of a third (or more) party in the present system, but let's just say the deck is decidedly stacked against that. Having the five or six different "mainstream" ideologies just "put it all out there" so to speak, and let the votes fall where they may seems preferable. Coalitions would have to be formed and compromises actually made. No more crapping on one's true principles because some goof has the same letter after their name. Oddly enough, having more varieties of "them", also could lead to more of "us", depending on the issues du jour. Strange bedfellows and all that. One could make the argument that that's what primaries are for, but when you have people swearing fealty to a party while loathing the politicians therein, one has to wonder.

I'm sure there are people that can swiss cheese my logic, and I welcome it. This is one of those wealth of knowledge at my fingertips things. Also; too forgive the walls of text. Long day of snarkin', some booze was involved somewhere along the line as well.

Lindsey "Confirmed Bachelor (wink wink)" Graham is actually quite funny and seems an affable guy. Who knew?

Expand full comment

Me too. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Maybe we should start a support group, though?

Expand full comment

Yeah, Graham has clearly given up trying to be anything other than slightly relevant and is clearly trying to eek whatever can pass for enjoyment out of the shit storm that is now the Republican primary. Obviously, he's voting for Clinton, too.

Is he planning on retiring? I'm confused about how a Republican can afford to be honest. It's interesting how all the endorsements of Trump or Cruz have been damning with faint praise, lesser of two evils, except maybe for Christie on Trump. Can't believe how he got shamed by Trump, in public, and took it. Now Christie is paying Hell in NJ for that. Not often we witness the implosion of a major political party. No one alive remembers the demise of the Whigs, but, after 7 years of opposing a black President and doing nothing for the people, we get to see the Wig destroy the GOP.

There is a petition circulating to allow open carry at the convention. From said petition: "Cleveland, Ohio is consistently ranked as one of the top ten most dangerous cities in America. By forcing attendees to leave their firearms at home, the RNC and Quicken Loans Arena are putting tens of thousands of people at risk both inside and outside of the convention site."https://www.dailykos.com/st...

Quicken Loans Arena....😒 How much more Republican can you get?

I certainly can't foresee any problems arising with that scenario. And as Donald says, he's a big Second Amendment guy. It seems sort of hypocritical if the GOP doesn't work to allow open carry at their little shindig.

"Cruz would totally suck, and be terrible for America . . . but he's a Republican."

Nice to see you got your priorities straight, you shameless twit.

I second this emotion. I encourage them to open carry. Nothing could possibly go wrong. They are the good guys with the guns, amirite?
