I'm going to give an update every day I work to talk about another unvaccinated moron I had to admit to the hospital for covid. Today's winner is a 26 year old non smoker with zero medical problems who didn't get vaccinated because "I don't like needles" who is now on oxygen, has the lungs of an 80 year old smoker *and* has a blood clot in his lungs meaning he will be on blood thinners for a *minimum* of 3 months. He f**cked around and found out.Meanwhile, 2 doors down, a 72 year old woman with a billion medical problems who had been vaccinated but still got covid. The difference? She went home.
I've struggled with the Why and, and I have been through the end of polio, malaria in panama and dengue which we surfers even managed to bring back to hawaii where it had to be stamped out and luckily was due to a great Hawaii Health Dept, one that also prints awesome certificates btw, green is our color out here, and while it is true and easy to point out how braindead and truly credulous vulgarians are, BC they are, my personal take is that my generation's defeat of conscription, while of the highest moral fabric, also disintegrated the only real connection, The Army via the Draft, that folks from around the country used to share ... someone saves you in a foxhole and you get attached to them and will be there for them too no matter what state they are from ... I have no answer as NO MORE WAR and also no more draft ... people say a national service, that would work, but it would take a war to get deplorables to show up and do anything of value to the country, the one they profess to be all about lol, anyway I don't have an answer but I know those older than me had wide networks of friends all over the nation developed during their military service together ...

The Australian Liberal government (fun fact - in Australia, the Liberal party is right-wing) has completely fucked up our vaccine rollout. They bet hard on the Astra Zeneca brand, then went with a for-profit consultancy to run the rollout, rather than use the in-place infrastructure we use every year for the flu vaccine.
Result - 8.3% of the adult population is vaccinated. That is uniquely bad among wealthy nations. Brazil is doing better. Peru is doing better. Fucking Kazakhstan is doing better. It's embarrassing.
Our current bunch of Federal cockwombles would like to be TFG et. al, but don't have his charisma and inspired depravity. They're just a pathetic bunch of small, inadequate men who are waaaay out of their depth and desperately trying to hide the fact. They aren't even living up to their responsibility to quarantine international travelers. They've done nothing right since the whole crisis began.
It's our state Premiers who stepped up and saved us. They imposed quarantines and health mandates when the Feds wouldn't, and stopped community spread cold. I'm so thankful for them, and so angry at the useless pack of dickheads that tried to steal all their credit. At least the vaccine "strollout" has shown how naked they are.
That's the Gov't propaganda ...... first dose in England has reached only 53% with 18-24 year olds, and 56% of 25-29 year olds; those younger than 18 are not currently vaccinated. Of the total 65% over 18s have had 1st and 2nd dose. London is appalling as only 45% have had the double dose

There's no border between Westchester County and Bronx County; it's a line on a map." The next day, to travel to work, I dug out my last antiviral mask from the Curad box and put it on. Over that, I put a painter mask. Then I wrapped my head twice in my big pashmina. That's how I traveled to and from work until we got PPE (I work in a FQHC). As soon as they started selling it, I bought the medical grade silicon Castle Grade and lots of replacement filters. I've since bought more. But I'm really pissed off at Castle Grade. Their customer service is nonexistent; the strap holder on the filter case snapped off and I've had no success getting it replaced.
