I wonder if those who scream about windmills ruining their view of the sunset have seen the devastation of mountaintop removal in Appalachia. Draping those now scarred former hillsides with windmills would be a massive improvement.
No, and that would be silly. What would happen to other research, such as hurricane forecasting. Cutting back on particle physics and accelerator research? Your systems are already optimized for that particular line of study. But there are other national labs that provide computation time for a wide range of scientific calculations. And we could almost certainly cut back on some of the NSA's "research" without any issues, except maybe a bit more individual privacy.
There is something that is bothering me. I saw some of the Secretary's interview on green energy and her comments on putting the National Labs to work on this issue. I just worry that she might not actually have a good handle on what science is pursued by the National Lab system, which is often an issue with an incoming political appointees. Quite a number of the labs pursue science mostly unrelated to green energy so I hope she isn't talking out of ignorance.
If it spurs people to put more pressure on those politicians, I can't see it as anything but a positive even if it's not ultimately successful. And in any case, I would not sell Stacy Abrams short.
I like Granholm, but the fact that a Conservadem Senator from a coal state likes her gives me pause. I hope it's because she promises to help phased out coal miners (and presumably, phased out coal mining corporations, as well) and is smart enough to know that Green is coming, Federal Government or no. Otherwise I might suspect that the fix is in.
There are 7 more nominees waiting for Senate votes, how long will that take? And for the remaining 5, how much more time will be lost? This confirming one a week it taking WAY too long.
When you have a,o cal government that is digging a deeper and deeper financial hole, with expenditures far exceeding revenue, something must be done. The question is do you appoint someone who acts like an equity firm, slashing expenses with no concern about the effect on the citizens and no real idea of the complexities of local government, or a true caretaker trying to get the city or county on sound financial footing while maintaining services.
They do, of course.
YOU MONSTER! I don't want to give them wind cancer!

Because she’s a lady? And too emotional, I bet.
No visible thighs, crossed under a glass table.
It's not just that Granholm is white. She is popular in Michigan, a state the GOP needs and thinks it has a shot at.

Something I apparently don't have😉
Born in Vancouver, BC; I suppose that does it.
Because she's Canadian.

Both sounds good
