The crusty old crankypants senior senator from Arizona -- who will never give up! never surrender! never stop being SO GODDAMNED BITTER about that time he didn't get to be president, and then thatothertime he didn't get to be president -- has a problem, and that problem is that nobody likes him at all. (Except for
The Tea Party candidate running against him from the right is exactly that (except in Maricopa County, and he's a young buck of 50).*
* I only know this because I've known this guy's family for years. They are all moderate (dad and brother) to extremely liberal (mom and sister) and are deeply embarrassed.
... looks to me like Walnuts could use a good session of fracking to release what is obviously years of bullshit buildup. It won't be environmentally friendly, but it needs to be done.
look, we saw this movie before in 2010. JD Hayworth ran against McCain in the primary. Short version, McCain has the state party in his pocket and he made sure to lock up all the big donors so that Hayworth had little more than tea party enthusiasm going for him. He lost in a landslide. Less short version, JD Hayworth seemingly was an ideal primary challenger. He was telegenic and has a great broadcaster's voice. He spent many years as a sports anchor for a Phoenix TV station so he had loads of recognition in Maricopa County, which holds 60% of the state's population. He paid his dues in the party. He was a tea partier through and through when the Tea Party was at its peak, he should have easily won the traditional primary votes of the hardcore, far right GOP base. But McCain is well-connected and knows how to win an election. He made sure to lock up all the big donors and support from the traditional GOP backers like the Chamber of Commerce and defense contractors well before Hayworth's candidacy got off the ground. Hayworth's campaign was notoriously short of money and if there's one thing you need above all else in a statewide campaign, it's money.
And when the general election came around, well of course the average voter was going to vote for the (R) by default over the unknown Dem who was probably a socialist gungrabber anyway who wanted to raise everyone's taxes to 110% and force everyone's daughters to get pregnant by a gay Muslim terrorist and then get a forced abortion.
I haven't heard of any primary challengers this time around, but I am certain the same dynamic will play out in the general - too many voters will be uninformed and just vote for the (R) by default.
McCain blew any chance at the Presidency when he allowed Bush to treat him like an idiot.McCain challenged Bush concerning flyers Karl Rove had placed on cars during church services. Claiming McCain adopted daughter from Ethiopia, was actually his biological daughter, from an African American lover.Bush became theatrically indignat and scowled at McCain. McCain backed down giving in to Bush and the South Carolina primary (or maybe North Carolina? ).Either way that was the end of McCain and Presidential ambitions.
Even better (or worse?) the adopted girl is Bengali. Prolly a little darker, & from Mohammedan stock, so... maybe worse? At least Ethiopians are Christian; well, non-papal Catholic types with even funnier hats.
I love all of this so much. The article. The headline. The picture to go with it.

Here's John McCain at the "Great Alaskan Bush Company" happy hour selecting his next VP...http://media4.giphy.com/med...
Maybe if he got Sarah Palin to run as his Vice Senator he'd have a chance.

It's either his passport or his driver's license -- maybe his Christmas card?
He was too busy threatening to bomb the floodwaters in Tex-ass.

gee...with 23% turnout in Texass and draconian identity requirements who'd a thunk the douche would win.
What part of "don't cross the streams" didn't you understand?
But, but... Newton's "law" is just a theory! Were you there?

Too bad Megz isn't willing to make her Democratic tendencies official. A family feud for AZ Senate would be great.
You put one too many F's on "bf".
If only they would leave the ball gag in.
