I shifted my family to Signal, and one of the main groups that organized there has gone to Slack; so while I still check it maybe once a day, that's WAY down from ten years ago. Of course, when it attempted to become the Hub For Everything, it immediately diluted the only content I found interesting and lost about 99% of its value as a platform for me.
We might also have to accept the reality that Facebook, as it currently exists, is beyond redemption as a constructive good.
If I could pull the plug on Facebook, I would do it without a second thought. Facebook has resulted in so much misery and needless death—and not just in the US, but around the world.
Throughout history people have confronted pandemics and epidemics, and many have refused to accept the seriousness of the infections... The more information available, the more people question for sources and accuracy of the information... Everyone is left to interpret the information as they see fit... One man's acceptance of the cure, is another man's doubts about the cure... Only history and Darwinism will determine who is correct...
Social media will never not be shit because social media is full of people and the other people and corporations and governments who want to manipulate or exploit them.
I haven't been on my FB account in a few years (2017?). Just logged in to see if I'd missed anything in the past four years, and nope, not ready to get back on that thing.
For the wonkers who understands how this stuff works, if I all of us just don't look at facebook for a while - no clicks at all - would that be sufficient to send a message? Do we have to delete our accounts?

Many a dissertation has been written. One found the average number of comments to devolve a conversation was 5.
My husband keeps telling me he sent me something in Facebook, even though I have told him repeatedly that I don't do Facebook! Grr.
What about the kids who can't be vaccinated? It isn't their fault the adults in their lives are imbeciles.

In science, Delta is a symbol for change. For the unvaxxers, it can change them from alive to dead.

Yeah, when you call bullies on their bullshit they always get up in their feels.
So Biden said the truth and the people he called out didn't like it.
Also, there's no visible evidence of crowd size.

Hopefully it will be. Soon.
For the love of humanity, stop sharing this garbage.
Intentions are irrelevant: you are amplifying their bullshit.
