I shifted my family to Signal, and one of the main groups that organized there has gone to Slack; so while I still check it maybe once a day, that's WAY down from ten years ago. Of course, when it attempted to become the Hub For Everything, it immediately diluted the only content I found interesting and lost about 99% of its value as a platform for me.

We might also have to accept the reality that Facebook, as it currently exists, is beyond redemption as a constructive good.

If I could pull the plug on Facebook, I would do it without a second thought. Facebook has resulted in so much misery and needless death—and not just in the US, but around the world.

Throughout history people have confronted pandemics and epidemics, and many have refused to accept the seriousness of the infections... The more information available, the more people question for sources and accuracy of the information... Everyone is left to interpret the information as they see fit... One man's acceptance of the cure, is another man's doubts about the cure... Only history and Darwinism will determine who is correct...

For the wonkers who understands how this stuff works, if I all of us just don't look at facebook for a while - no clicks at all - would that be sufficient to send a message? Do we have to delete our accounts?
