True story from Kobach's Kansas:My mother is a white lady and a native Kansan, descended from more than a century of Kansans. She was born there and has lived there on and off for a majority of her life. She is an employee of the government in KS (public school teacher). Our freaking family farm in Liberal, KS ("the oxymoron city") is now the OZ museum/Dorothy's house--one of the most recognizable KS symbols! AND YET: she wanted to vote in the 2014 midterms but WAS NOT ALLOWED TO. Because of Mr. Kobach. His voter laws mandated that she produce divorce papers from her first marriage (1972-- don't get me started on the child bride stuff!) and her marriage license for her 2nd husband in 1976 in order to vote. These each cost her more than $50 to obtain. At great pains, she obtained these and many other documents required to "prove" she was a citizen and she wasn't faking her identity. However, she was turned away and not allowed to vote-- basically because she was taking care of my elderly grandma and living with her, so her name was not on the utility bills! So, no vote for my mom. If a native, white Kansan who was literally born in Dorothy's house had this much trouble voting-- how hard do you think it was for other people in KS? Kris Kobach SUCKS and this judge is our HERO. When we read this story we were immediately on the phone to each other laughing and crying and celebrating.
Voter fraud was always a talking point to avoid admitting they lost, and to get their base out to the polls. The thought of brown folks voting what had no citizenship was an affront to all that is sacred(white). Since it works, they’ve beat that dead horse for years.
Somewhere along the lines, a model student, which I will assume would make him marginally intelligent as well(assuming facts not in evidence here), began to believe his own bullshit. So much that he thought that smoke and mirrors would woo a judge long enough to find this cabal of illegal voters.
Now he shit the bed and they have a court case where they can provide no evidence other than Infowars videos.
Where are all of these illegal citizens breaking down the doors of polling station to vote ? I have worked as an election official , and know others of both parties ,none of us have ever met any ? This rubbish about voter fraud inside the Conservative Cult ( the Judge in this case must be an old time Moderate Republican ,yes they existed ) , all began when a black man ,Mr.Obama had the nerve to be elected President! I have news for the Cult , get used to it .

This little trial was excellent! It exposed the canard of voter fraud used by Republican politicians nationwide in their voter suppression efforts. Sure it helped that Kobach is a wannabe lawyer and their experts are crackpots but Kobach had to do his own lawyering apparently. i think it was probably refused by every other lawyer they approached in the beginning so they let Kobach do it. He's the zealot with the voter suppression urge.
