"ridding Gaza of all the Palestinians"

That's genocide.

Here's the UN definition:

"

Definition

Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide

Article II

In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

1. Killing members of the group;

2. Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;

3. Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;

4. Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;

5. Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

"

That hits 1, 2, and definitely 3.

The IDF has also actively targeted hospitals which could be argued to fit 4.

And the IDF has thousands of Palestinian children in jail on terrorism charges, though I have seen no proof that they're actively targetting Palestinians here.

Note: Only one of these needs to be done even just in part to call what happens genocide.

Also, as someone on Bluesky just mentioned, Gaza has no military, no tanks, no missiles. It's not a war.

Every single peace agreement the United States negotiates with Hamas never involves the Israelis.

THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE WATCHING

The Twin Fist Fertility Dance. (Stationary feet identify this as the Executive Version). Moves slowly towards flag. Embraces flag, finally encompassing and immobilizing it. Leans into flag. Deeply into its folds. Now tonguing flag valleys, flag peaks. Steps back. Wavers. Sleeps.

I thought the Wonkette Style Guide specifically banned open thread posts with Trump images at the top.

In the interest of style and good taste, Trump images should be banned everywhere!

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves

Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:

All mimsy were the borogoves,

And the mome raths outgrabe.

.

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!

The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!

Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun

The frumious Bandersnatch!”

.

He took his vorpal sword in hand;

Long time the manxome foe he sought—

So rested he by the Tumtum tree

And stood awhile in thought.

.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,

The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,

Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,

And burbled as it came!

.

One, two! One, two! And through and through

The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!

He left it dead, and with its head

He went galumphing back.

.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?

Come to my arms, my beamish boy!

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”

He chortled in his joy.

.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves

Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:

All mimsy were the borogoves,

And the mome raths outgrabe.

Trump heard what he thought he heard to create the Board. "Bored of Peace"

The day raging Ivana chased cheating Trump down the ski slope – going backwards so she could wag her finger in his face: Just one gloriously feisty cameo in the life of the irrepressible society queen, who has died aged 73

He keeps trying to use violence as his chief negotiating plot, and the mullahs are not impressed. Every time he takes a shot at them he is sure that they will fold on account of he has overawed them, but they just yawn. Saddam thought he could bully Iran and we, at least, remember how well that worked for him.

Oh, Trump skied all right, back in the 1980s. Remember that time his current wife and current mistress got into it in Aspen? https://www.aspentimes.com/news/donald-trump-and-aspen

Let Trump take the $17B and just GTFO and go someplace with no extradition treaty with the USA- like hell. I am absolutely at peace with this.

Always Be Ithacating's avatar

I'm not. Exile didn't work with Napoleon, or even with Idi Amin. My ideal for Trump's future is a fair trial, and if convicted, his serving a full sentence of imprisonment. He'd do the same and worse for any of us.

If the last sixty years taught us anything, it's that letting bygones be bygones guarantees that the evildoers will do it again, only worse.

I'd only wish for that to happen - him ending up as a FURTHER burden on the American taxpayer - if it came with public stocks and an endless supply of rotten vegetables.

A viral trend called “tanmaxxing” is encouraging Gen Z to ignore the documented risks associated with prolonged UV exposure and forgo sunscreen in pursuit of darker tans. The Onion examines the common myths and facts surrounding tanning.

MYTH: Tanning is bad for your skin.

FACT: Lizards lay in the sun all day, and they’ve never looked better.

MYTH: Tanning gives the body all the vitamin D it needs.

FACT: Most of the sun’s vitamin D is eaten by seagulls long before it reaches the ground.

MYTH: Tanning is safe as long as you don’t get sunburned.

FACT: You should still wear a seatbelt when you get into a tanning bed.

MYTH: Tanning beds are thoroughly sanitized between customers.

FACT: Like cast-iron pans, they work best with a thin layer of seasoning.

MYTH: Base tans prevent sunburn.

FACT: The only sure way to prevent sunburn is agoraphobia.
