I am so stabby with rage and feel wretched about the missing and exploited children of Ukraine. The ICC has warrants out for Putin and at least one of his government employees concerning this war crime, but as of yet nothing can be done. May the botulinum toxin he injects into his forehead migrate to his brain. May his balls explode with cancer.

I first learned about Mont-Saint-Michel from an indie film in 1990 called “Mindwalk”. Sam Waterson, John Heard and Liv Ullman walk through the cathedral and out to the beach, discussing Rene Descartes, Isaac Newton, nuclear bombs and ecological thinking. I *would* highly recommend it except it’s become much harder to find. Ten years ago I was lucky enough to buy it from Amazon on a DVD imported from, of all places, Portugal! It plays just fine on my Blu Ray player and is in English with an option to turn on Portuguese subtitles.

I visited Mont St Michel mumble-mumble years ago. It's beautiful, and very much a tourist trap. "there are some 50 shops, restaurants and hotels."? Yeah. I think the beauty is worth it, despite the shops.

But for my money, Monemvasia in Greece is prettier and has more interesting things to do, like hiking up to the ruins at the peak. You can dip in the sea off of a dangerous-feeling sea wall.

Still, shops everywhere selling all kinds of tchotchkes. I mean, you can get local honey and local wine and gorgeous gelato, but also loads of teeshirts etc.

We spent a few nights out on the rock itself. Gorgeous.

OT –

In a world consumed by the voracious hunger of capitalism pushed to its absolute extreme, "The Owl and The Sword" novel unveils a dystopian landscape where wealth is the ultimate currency, and power is wielded by those who control it. Set in the near-future United States suffocating under the weight of corporate greed, the novel follows the harrowing journey of a group of unlikely heroes as they confront the insidious consequences of a society driven to the brink of collapse.

"Democrat James Malone is projected to win a special election for Pennsylvania’s 36th state Senate district on Tuesday night, narrowly triumphing in a district President Donald Trump won by 15 percentage points in November.

Malone’s victory over Republican Josh Parsons is a significant upset, and an encouraging sign Democrats’ coalition of highly engaged, highly educated voters continues to give them an advantage in low-turnout but crucial special elections. It’s also an early but small sign of growing voter anger with Republicans.

Before the election, Malone told local media that voters in the county were frustrated with the role billionaire Elon Musk has played in the Trump administration. “Josh Parsons might be OK with that, but I’m not,” Malone told Lancaster Online. “On Tuesday, you’ll get to make the choice between more Musk, or Lancaster values.”

Malone led Parsons 50% to 49%, a lead of less than 500 votes, according to results posted by the Pennsylvania Secretary of State. The district includes most of Lancaster County, a rural county in the south central part of the state best known for its Amish population. Malone’s victory shrinks the GOP advantage in the state Senate to 27-23.

In a separate election outside Pittsburgh, the Democratic candidate ran well ahead of former Vice President Kamala Harris’ margins in a Democratic seat to maintain the party’s narrow 102-101 advantage in Pennsylvania’s state House." https://www.huffpost.com/entry/democrats-flip-gop-held-state-senate-seat-pennsylvania_n_67e37156e4b076c73b1e5967

HuffPost Updates: "Trump Wavers On Promised April 2 Tariffs: ‘We’ll Probably Be More Lenient’

The on-again, off-again, on-again tariffs Trump promised would totally, 100% be implemented on April 2 are now maybe a little bit off. Again.

Instead of the “reciprocal” one-for-one tariffs, Trump told Newsmax he’ll probably be more lenient. “I’ll probably be more lenient than reciprocal. Because if I was reciprocal, that would be very tough for people,” he said. He also conceded there will be exceptions. “I know there are some exceptions, and it’s an ongoing discussion, but not too many, not too many exceptions,” he said."

Nothing happened to Jan. She's amazing. She does back-to-back-to-back constituent meetings when in town (it's almost harder to avoid her than to find her), pretty much 100% voting record, very vocal about the idiots in leadership. I just feel that after so long in Congress she should make way for new talent. I don't know anything about Kat really, I just support keeping our Reps on their toes, and the primary system is really one of the only tools we have, especially in a 75%+ blue district like the 9th, and I also think there should be a mandatory retirement age, 72 or 76 maybe. Jan could be mentoring people to succeed her but I haven't seen it. And I just hate the coy "I haven't made a decision yet." Make a gd'd decision so people have time to meet the voters.

As if anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together, didn't already know that? So, spokesperson for the West Ada School District, which color children would you NOT welcome? And what color should be the default for ALL posters in your schools, where NOT everyone is welcome? As if I didn't know the answer to that, either.
