Good. The thing that buoys his shithole people is the exact same thing that makes judges perk up their ears and say 'wait a minute.'

I hope everything worked itself out last night. Sounds tense and uncomfortable. Thank god for wine... or stronger... or...

Sorry about that. Not to worry, S. (I've been thinking of moving to Seattle when E graduates)

YIkes. Sorry. Not sure what you mean by helpful. Sounds like your daughter is having what we call in the business, a meltdown. Again, sorry. I am in the editing room right now anyway, so no biggie. I'll check in from time to time... otherwise, keep the faith or a baseball bat, or...

I'm having bad problems tonight so...i'm sorry I can't be more helpful. Apparently, my home is "toxic" but my daughter wants to go stay with her dad and his wife, who she hates, and has a really sketchy relationship with her dad. Long story.

You're from a part of the world I don't know at all. I seem to be right or left coast and then across oceans. Funny thing, you seem to connect ok from where I'm typing. But it's just pixels, so who knows. Maybe in real life you're removed. Or even a serial killer, although I'm hoping not. Anyway... so far, you seem funny and nice.

College. It's not for everyone. I hope the 'long story' is not something gruesome. FYI: when I walked across the stage at my HS graduation, I had to check if there was diploma in there. It wasn't a foregone conclusion.

I don't know about you, but I came from a seriously fucked up family. Well my mom was OK. The International house of Disfunction. IHOD. I've tried to correct some of that. We'll see. Probably my kid will be in therapy and talking about her eccentric father.. who... I don't know. I'm sure I've done something.

We're trying to be better than our parents, even when our parents were just doing the best better than theirs that they could, I guess.

that's a hilarious story. The family that vibrates together, stays together. I am almost certain my spud would have died a thousand deaths before making that admission. I am not even permitted in her room. She has a sign on the door: Who knows what secrets lie behind closed doors. Also an off-color Shakespeare quote. Either way, I am to stay out (other than the obligatory kiss on the forehead at night, and the less subtle wake-up in the morning). I do think my kid feels loved, she is. I think she feels safe. She is. I have hopefully taught her to splay and gut any motherfucker who messes with her. We hope these lessons stick... Our Body Ourselves... man I remember that. There were four boys (two girls) in my family. We lived on farm down a long dirt road in Western PA. My mom, to teach us horny boys about sex, put out some sex novel on a book shelf. The thing was disgusting by the time the youngest got through. Boys. The girls were required to be Tom Boys to survive the teen boy onslaught.

It's my hope, only hope, that E (my kid) finds herself in any which way she can.

My former girlfriend I sponsored to come here from Haiti as a visitor in 2009. She worked at modeling jobs, paying taxes (!). In 2010, just before her visa expired, the earthquake struck. She was afforded TPS. In the ensuing weeks, she obtained a work permit, and a social security card. She got into nursing school, and became a CNA working at different assisted living places. She went to school and became a nursing home administrator. Incredibly industrious, she has also attended college, and is about to graduate from California State University, Northridge with a bachelor's degree in broadcasting. She has made decent money, sufficient to send funds back to her family as needed. She rents her own place now. She had been able to visit her family in Haiti a couple of times (each of her parents died while she has been living here); but of course is now afraid to do so in the horrific Trump era. Things of course remain corrupt and in disarray in Haiti - much of it due to American (and other) intervention over the decades. There are public health issues, poor healthcare, not a lot of decent employment. Her story can be multiplied many times - not just by the Haitians she knows but by the other TPS recipients. They work, pay taxes (my friend has NEVER used public assistance), and are useful and often vital members of our society. They DO happen to be black or very brown. My friend was scheduled to be deported in August of 2019, after living here for over 10 years. Thank god for this judge showing some enlightenment. Of course I cringe to think this may ultimately head to the "Kavanaugh Court". Trump, Kelly, Nielsen, Steven Goebbels Miller and the rest of the white nationalists have been an absolutely nightmare to us all. It's just a shame these TPS recipients cannot vote.

She'll get to where she needs to be, even if that's comfortable with being ace (asexual) to whatever degree. As long as she's happy with it and understands that it's normal.

I suppose I wouldn't have been comfortable talking about sexuality with either my dad or my stepdad. My mom was very open with me when I was quite young and asking some *very* awkward questions . I'll always be grateful for her honesty and the fact that she (and my dads to a lesser degree) raised me not to be ashamed of my body or my sexuality. My mom even gave me her copy of Our Bodies, Our Selves when I was in grade school. I hate to think of how messed up I'd be because of the rest of the world if I hadn't had that solid support at home. I hope my daughter feels safe and loved, too. I'll bet yours does, even if you don't get into the nitty gritty details with her.

Here's a funny for ya, in case you didn't see me posting it a few weeks ago when it happened:

My son texted both his sister and me: "ONE OF YA LEFT YA DAMN VIBRATOR IN THE BATHROOM!"Me: "Not mine!"Daughter: "LOL SORRY FOR RUINING YOUR DAY!"
