True, we like to complain, and who can blame us at this time. It is past time the administration was consigned to the trash. However, I want to single out one man and his government for standing tall in the face of our corrupt president and fools trashing our country: Mark Carney, the prime minister of Canada: So I am writing him and only need to put postage on the envelope:

Always a good idea to give credit where credit is due:

Dear Prime Minister, At the age of thirteen, with the help of my grandfather, I began to explore my heritage, And lo and behold, it is Canadian. My family started in New Brunswick in the 1780's when the British took the Maritime Provinces and removed the Acadians. Sad though it is, it is the fact of the matter. So my Canadian family are from Sussex County, New Brunswick, and filtered south over the years. With ten to twelve children in the family, children have to go somewhere, and the family I know moved to Upstate New York. I am proud to be an American citizen, and I am very pleased to be able to say that my Canadian heritage is something to be proud of as well. And that is particularly true given the light of recent events. I do not approve of anything my president does - far from it. But the fact that you and the Canadian people are pulling the plug on American dependence and forging new alliances and trade partners pleases me to no end. Keep it up. You are doing great.

About 3 years ago I took in a cat that had been left behind when his owner moved to another province. Since he was an older cat, and needed thyroid medication (according to one of his original owner's neighbours), I took him to the vet for a check-up and prescription renewal. After a thorough examination, the vet put Nigels age in the early to mid twenties rather than the mid-teens I had assumed. We only had Nigel for about four months after that, but he was an avid mouse-hunter the whole time, and caught two the very same day he died. The two idiots I have now just had their second New Year, and wouldn't know what to do with mouse if one bit them on the nose.

I always ♥ you Dok, because you give me such nice vibes when you call me a fickaduck. Of course I am! Thanks for the nice time stories and all the moderation you have to do. I moderate myself but i have such bad, bad thoughts about the current state of affairs and 2025 in general that it's hard to be polite. So goodbye last year and on to the midterms!!!!

Happy New Year Wonketeers!

The one good thing about DFT and his minions is that they are all nitwits. Sure, they are doing a lot of damage now, but just imagine how much more they could do if they actually were competent.

I worked with someone who reviewed the documents on the Klamath de-damming project, and I was glad to see it go through, and glad to see the salmon coming back. (Yay, fellow fish!) And even in my experience it took a while, and I was just aware of it at the tail end.

"Rivers are DEI, we guess, especially if the people restoring the land are Native Americans."

And *especially* especially, if the people *benefiting* from the restoration are Native Americans.

I’ve awoken at 1 AM because the neighbors were doing fireworks here at my sister’s house. Came home to NC to bury and remember mom. Hell of an exit for her today. Rock on mom.

Bella is a mere 18, but she has already told me she's not getting old, and no living organism is more stubborn than the beautiful Miss Belle. (Or, HRH Princess Bella, Ruler of All She Surveys, her formal title.)

Dok, thanks for putting up a post about things that don't suck. You are an island among a shitty ocean.

Wow, kudos to Flossie and her current human. Flossie must be very skilled at training humans. Someone should grant her a PhD in human training.

I had a cat that lived to 23. I was impressed.
