They know how to milk the industry for those kick-backs though.

I expect better from Dickerson--hes at an elevated enough position in his field that even if this was merely playing devil's advocate, it's just not helpful.I don't understand, do the vaccine rejectors want a fucking cookie, a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down? No. They are fucking freeloaders that will benefit from sensible people getting inoculated, and their steadfast, PROUD revulsion to getting the vax is beyond contempt.—Christ, didn't their golden calf Trump get the jab? If it's good enough for him, these people are beyond hope

I cannot stress this enough: Greg Abbott doesn't know a fucking thing about ERCOT.

the lege did a lot of good work on the grid last session and, unfortunately, large infrastructure fixes take a lot of time and money, but this was not a fucking clerical error.

and, despite the good work that was done and not enough time passing for those measures to show meaningful change, they did NOT fix everything.

we have pretty strict germanity rules for legislation and it took some time for the legislators who do know ERCOT to get their arms around the problem meaning that there were some items for which it was too close to the filing deadline to file bills on certain problems without the bill caption being so broad that Bob Hall would load it up with amendments to combat the ISIS Space Squirrels running around in his brain. so Hancock and Paddie asked the stakeholders to be ready for the fall special session on redistricting and ARPA appropriations because no one knew at the beginning of March that Greg Abbott was going to decide to run for president on May 30 and initiate the current bullshit session.

the biggest problem we had was natural gas suppliers creating an artificial windfall for themselves and we still need to deal with that which is the realm of the Railroad Commission--not PUC or ERCOT. there's also evidence that the vendor who was running our emergency curtailment program where large commercial and industrial energy users agree to go offline in an energy emergency and get paid for it had approved 5 of those for fucking natural gas suppliers vastly increasing the scarcity they'd started the ball rolling on a couple weeks before the winter storm.

there's some evidence that natural gas suppliers continuing to be total assholes led to the recent conservation alert--but there was also a fire at one of the nuclear plants, existing damage to the infrastructure from the winter storm and them basically deciding they'd be doing more residential alerts in general because they've kind of been skipping that step between issuing the alerts for industrial and commercial users and initiating rolling blackouts for YEARS. oops.

Enough of us admire and listen to him that it makes it worthwhile.

I mean, 2/3 of the country WAS vaccinated by July 4th. That's something.

ABBOTT: I must point out, Chris, one very important thing that most people do not know, and that is, what was the main cause of the power grid failure in the wintertime, and it's nothing that anybody knows. The main cause of the power grid failure of the state of Texas actually was a failure by the power generators in Texas to file a simple document with ERCOT, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas.

That fucker Abbott is a worthless piece of shit. I hope everyone who knew someone who died for corporate profit in the February cold smash remembers and A) calls him and leaves a filthy message and B) votes for anyone by Abbott.
