That's a little misleading because FL median age is somewhat higher than other states. (Ranked 6th.) Older people are much more likely have gotten vaccinated. So among the younger, teen and working age cohorts FL is not so middle.
FWIW, my state of Connecticut is ranked 8th in median age but is also has one of highest vaccination rates (80% have gotten at least one dose). New cases here are up 70% in the past week, new cases in Florida are up 149%.
