In my experience, embedding the top tweet will not display the sub-tweet being quoted. Without which, the top tweet's reference to "this" will make no sense. When a quoted sub-tweet isn't involved, I do embed.
If there's a way to embed that includes the sub-tweet, I'm all ears.
