Marylander here. Hogan won the Governorship because the previous Democratic Governor had to deal with the Great Recession, and that Governor choose raising fees over taxes, which pissed people off. We shall see what support Hogan gets from the MAGAtts as he is considered a RHINO, but I’m certain my spouse’s RWNJ cousin will vote for him. The key is which Dem candidate, Trone or Alsbrook, is most likely to get support. Trone has won in the Congressional 6th, which contains 3 RWNJ counties, including 2022 when Hogan pushed for and won peeling off Den voters into Jamie Raskin’s district. Alsbrook is PG County local. A person can win statewide office in MD if enough people vote for them in Montgomery, PG, Baltimore City and Baltimore County alone. Good news is that the well liked County Executive for Baltimore County is running for an open House seat, so that should drive up voting there. Fingers crossed.
