All they know is that Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch can yank away their paychecks at a moment's notice if they fail to be adaptable. Fear, plus soul death, plus a natural instinct for fascism, make it very easy to believe only what you are required to believe in the moment.

I'm also concerned that with the prospect of an unemployment rate that may surge to 34%, and with the Republicans blocking all but the most meager efforts to provide support to workers and small businesses, we're going to start to see a surge in desperate kinds of crimes, the crimes of cashless people who have run out of food and have no prospects.
