A panel on Fox Business’s "Varney & Co." consisting primarily of people who would have made excellent villains in Charles Dickens book expressed their outrage over the fact that several cities have enacted $15 dollar minimum wage laws -- several of which
What's the difference between the Democrats and Republicans? Republicans want to turn us into slaves and Democrats want us to feel good about the experience.
Both parties have been a complete disaster for poor and working people. The privileged only hire themselves for good paying work and impose horrible wages/conditions on the rest of us. Meanwhile, both parties and the captains of capital have done everything in their power to destroy jobs and living wages. The labor force participation rate has declined steadily throughout the Obama administration, from a high of 65% in 2009 down to 62.7% as of March 2016, despite the fact that the potential workforce has grown, especially at the younger end.
All of this quite consistent with the international capitalist agenda of lowering US wages and working conditions to those of Chinese labor. Encouraging exploitation of child labor is simply the logical next step for our bipartisan economic elites.
Both parties seem committed to collapsing the job market as much as possible, while turning us into a nation of minimum wage workers, chained in inescapable student debt, for jobs that do not really require education past basic reading, writing and math to be competent. Part time, contracted, 'interning', piece-work... the disintegration of work conditions and terms proliferate, thanks to bipartisan economic policy.
This is why Clinton and anyone else peddling that neoliberal/neoconservative, New World Order trash is an unacceptable candidate this fall. America needs a New Deal. Nobody wants the New World Order, except the rich and the connected.
They don't, they want to leave the uneducated with no other option than to join the army. Either definitely starve trying to live on min wage or maybe survive to retirement in the armed forces.
When I was young, I read a Victorian children's novel called Water Babies. The protagonist is a chimney sweep, a child by the name of Tom. He drowns when chased out of the home of an upper class girl.
Children should not work, unless it's on the family farm or some such.
My dad died. My mother was working, so I practically raised younger sister (elder sister was in college, and fell asleep studying every evening; to this day, if you wake her unexpectedly, she'll say, "I'm studying, ma"); cooked meals, washed dishes and clothes, all for free (correction, for shelter, food, clothes). For money, I babysat other people's children. I'm sorry you had to go to work at 8.
I'm not saying it's wise or sensible. Also too I think the GOP in general need to be told it's not the 40's or 50's or whatever mythical bygone era they're trying to recreate.
Return of the son of the brides of "both sides do it".
While it could certainly be said that neither side is perfect, and neither side defends the poor as much as they should - to imply that they are essentially the same is a monstrous false equivalency and I'm not buying it.

On Earth, God's work is truly our own. Slut shaming in the name of Jeebus.

Whenever I want to be embarrassed on behalf of the LGBT community, I think of Tammy Bruce.
