Yesterday, I took a day off for reasons, so I decided it was a good time to change the main shut off and add a pressure reducer. The old one was 111 years old, and bonus, our water pressure is 160psi, and the new water meter is only rated for 120. Yes, I was working on the city side of the meter. They asked me to, after the seal on the old meter blew a couple weeks ago. I actually complained 5 years ago about them forcing me to do this (my argument: their side of the meter is their responsibility, including the fucking 160psi water, so source a meter that can take it). They exist, the same company that makes this one make one rated higher. Why don't they? Contracts, and city approvals. Incompetent engineering, you ask me.
