VB's almost grown up now, although there's still that whole thing about needing additional assemblies to patch the differences between the VB way and the .Net way, but the lasting legacy is that the population of programmers who prefer VB still tends towards people who think UI first and don't think about infrastructure and architecture. This creates a strong tendency for them to create ill-designed, messy code. I've had to maintain some of what they produced, and I didn't like it.
