As an English lawyer this case continues to bemuse me. There was no conflict of interest, apparent or real, no bribery or corruption, no relevant impropriety of any kind. In this jurisdiction solicitors frequently instruct their partners, married or unmarried, to act for their clients and no-one turns a hair. Many careers have been based on just that. It is a shocking travesty of justice that the case was derailed in such a fashion.
"Trump may only be prosecuted by a virgin who has never experienced true love’s kiss when the moon is in the Seventh House and Jupiter aligns with Mars." Oh. That explains everything.
Reminds me of the story of Jesus and the woman taken in adultery -- "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." (And then, the woman is struck in the head by an enormous stone and drops dead. Jesus: "Mom, some times you really piss me off!")
If it wasn't boning while being black it would have been something else, but JFK you are both trained lawyers who could easily see where this might go so keep it in your collective pants!
What I am really hoping that people notice about this TACTICALLY is that they are bringing this in the Fifth Circuit for no reason other than that most of the judges are Confederate Republicans (and that was one of the reasons Elgly Husk moved his HQ to Texas in the first place)
“Now, SpaceX and Amazon are at the forefront of a corporate-led effort to monumentally change the labor agency. On Monday, attorneys for the two companies will try to convince a panel of judges at the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals that the labor agency, created by Congress in 1935, is unconstitutional.”
An out of government "advisory" agency, no real power but no real oversight either, so we'll see where all that goes. I'm going to guess policy prescriptions by billionaires might not line up with working people's priorities, because "elite" and "out of touch" and 'billionaire".
You are absolutely correct in everything you say here. I would not dispute a single sentence that you have written in her defense.
However.
I am still really mad at her for this. I don't think she did anything wrong here, in any legal sense, but she still screwed up, big time. She screwed up as much as it was possible to screw up without actually breaking the law. She had to HAD TO HAD TO HAD TO know that the GOP was going to come after her with all of the knives out. She should have realized that she could not afford even the appearance of impropriety. She blew the best chance we had to get Trump on anything to do with his coup or other federal crimes, esp once you accept the sad roll of the dice that got us Aileen Cannon.
Sadly, "now" stretches back at least thirty years. Remember, for example, when everyone was going hysterical over the Clenis, while Newt Gingrich was ditching one wife to conduct an affair with the woman who would become his next (third) wife? While leading the charge against Clinton?
That is why I am mad at her -- because we have known this for decades.
No question that it sucks that this is our political reality, but it is our political reality. And one aspect of this reality is that you don't get to play the glass houses card: if you want to play in the big leagues, you have to accept being held to an unfairly higher standard.

We can keep this alive by profiling these losers each month.
Take loser #11 (center row, just left of Sydney Powell).
His name is Scott Hall. Let's remember that this super-tough MAGA man working as a bail bondsman WAS THE FIRST CO-DEFENDANT TO SQUEAL.

So Fetterman is going to be the next ManchSinema? Dude is needlessly complimentary of the incoming guy.

It's a shame that the appearance of impropriety only applies to Democrats now.

Yeah, I agree. Though she did nothing wrong, she should have known that she was under a microscope.
Or maybe almost all of us live in glass houses. Those idiots are out-and-out evil and don't play fair.
Exactly right! They are! And they don't!

Nope. Above all in cases like this you need to avoid even the look of impropriety
Unless you are a republican't.
Yeah, bad guys don't care, which is partly why they are bad guys
