Late to the post but this made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes! Thank you for that!

Well, I disagree, and I'm tired of being told this by whoever you are online also without evidence. There are tons of corporatists Democrats, they run the party, and you can bury your head in the sand about that as much as you like. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

NO, actually, I don't, because you completely misread my comment and you're being snide. Read the article. Read my comment. Then think long and hard about whether or not I was talking about Fetterman or you pulled that thought out of your ass and thought you were being clever. Then think about it again. Think some more on it. Ponder the question: who was Pugsandcoffee being grossed out about? Was it Fetterman or was it the corporatist Democratic machine that would ruin him to stand behind its chosen candidate? Should Pugsandcoffee show that work to me, a village id*ot? Or should I shut up while I'm ahead?

I'd expect Democratic candidates to be quite different. Of course they're so quiet compared to Republicans that I might not know what goes on with them. BUT the people online who harp on this are invariably jerks, not knowledgeable-- just in the bully mode. And on the face of it, what do rich guys have to gain from more regulation, higher taxes on themselves, and so on? If they favor those things they can go for it.

Hi Skippy. Long story. Didn't feel like commenting much. Got injured while being a volunteer on helping people and pets evacuating a then soon to be condemned apartment building which collapsed anyway. Recovered and eventually could walk and run again.

Politics otoh, well for Dems the the outlook is kind of mixed at best at the moment - House going almost certainly to the Rs due to gerrymandering and the Senate dicey at best. I had a chance to see what your state legislature is like and while not perfectly, it's surprisingly among the best of truly diverse that not even NY can brag about. The Democrats on the national level have the golden opportunity to make history as per the following article below.

https://www.nbcnews.com/new...

Except for the ones running on the GQP/MAGA ticket, I wish them all the best of luck despite their chances especially in the deepest of red states such as Arkansas and Alabama. Worse, the party isn't even funding or helping them much. For example, in that North Carolina senate race, Beasely's doing better than Cal Cunningham (ran two years ago as another "moderate" and got caught in an oral extra affair) did. Another good example I think is that Lawrence guy on his MSNBC show who barely gave Mandela Barnes even a few minutes of airtime and unfortunately Insurrectionist Ron in WI is somehow ahead despite 12 years of nothing to show. It's still baffling that DNC chair Jaime Harrison and VP Kamala Harris aren't helping them out either. I remember Dickhead Cheney and Dubya doing their dirty campaigning in 2002 all over and gaining as a result.

I can't believe the party is literally blowing this in addition to blowing it bad on infrastructure (no BBB but BIF which actually privatizes what's left of public infrastructure), Supreme Court reform (a lame "commission" when it should have been clear that the court needs to be rebalanced), restoring USPS (kept Dejoy), and failure to hold Trump and his cabal accountable (an already weak Jan 6th commission further weakened by Garland refusing to do his job), no police reform (allowing George Floyd Justice Act to be blocked in the Senate), no real gun control legislation (and no, that lame "bipartisan" bill doesn't count), doing nothing on the gutting of Roe v Wade (and no, fundraising on it doesn't count), and absolute failure to pass both the JOHN LEWIS VOTING RIGHTS ADVANCEMENT ACT and FOR THE PEOPLE ACT all of which would have clamped down on gerrymandering, dark money, and voter suppression in general. And that's before we discuss the nearly $800 billion "bipartisan" bloated war budget for FY22 alone (goes up every year) which does absolutely nothing to defend the homeland against rightwing terrorism and endless gun violence. The fact that an entire year was wasted by the national Demos "negotiating among themselves" stripping down the already compromised and carved out BBB from $4 trillion to $1 trillion (amounts to $100-$400 billion a year for 10 years) and then not passing BBB in the end all the while giving an easy passage on $800 billion on moar bloated war spending, falling apart even on the pandemic although they did succeed the first few months, and keeping the #GOPTAXSCAM (stealthily passed in Dec 2017) trickle down ENRONomics as if the 1980s and 2000s weren't damaging enough seems to be ailing them and right now, all I see is they're taking a huge gamble on having very little to show but mostly "bipartisan" corporate garbage and even the COVID relief bill of 2021 had its funding repurposed for BIF and "100k more cops". November 8, 2022 will be interesting as will November 2024.

Good versus evil? Looks more like compromised vs evil especially after that latest terrorist act against the Pelosis (and yes, I'm disappointed that Nancy has been way too nice to the Rs despite the village idiot RWNJs lying otherwise). As always, I don't anticipate the Dems fighting back even on this. At this point, regardless of what happens on 11/8/2022, the last two years of our feckless Dem leadership with a 50 year center right president tells me we haven't really recovered from 11/8/2016 let alone 2000 or 1980.

PS: Beyond outraged with the fascist media supporting the MAGA character assassination against Fetterman on his health that's actually far better than most current Senators who are either way too old or fringe rightwing lunatics.

Sorry to hear of your injury but glad you are on the mend. Even more happy to here from you. Always good observations on the political scene.

As you point out a lot going on but little has changed in the time you e been a way

I do not have a lot of optimism for defeating the trumpism. Democrats are in serious danger of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory once again

All the usual issues many of which you pointed out. No coherent message. No United front. No support from the national party no ground game. Weak candidates. No action on holding the trumpers accountable

Anyway great to see you back

Welcome back. I didn't realize that you got hurt. I thought you were taking a mental health break from these contentious social media discussions. Wow, I had no idea what you were suffering through. Hopefully, you'll make a full recovery and be running marathons in no time...

That too. It's just as bad if not worse in the real world but I think we need to get out more on human interactions so that in addition to my unfortunate injuries (lucky I even made it alive) kept me away. No idea how long or frequent I'll post here but definitely not about to start getting a twitter or facebook account either.

PS: I feel for you and the likes in Florida due to that state plagued by Deathsantis cult followers. Worse, I see that the rightwing propaganda in both Cuban American dominated South Florida and the usual rural Northern Florida doesn't seem to be losing any steam. As much as I'd like to see Demmings wipe that smirk off Rubio's face, I don't see a chance and from what I hear a lot of progressive voters are disappointed that she keeps talking about her law enforcement credentials and has even given condescending feedback on "manners" kind of like my crappy mayor Eric Adams privately admitting that he really believes "the left needs to calm down on go easy on Rudy" ! In the end, I sadly predict that Deathsantis and Rubio will win with margins that exceed Abbott's likely inevitable and unfortunate margins in Texas and sadly Beto isn't doing stellar there either. I heard that even the RGV region in TX is getting horrifyingly redder even before I started seeing horror videos of Hispanic voters disillusioned and letting the racists brainwash them into hating Beto what with piñatas, cardboard cut outs for target practice, and endless cheering with the racists themselves saying "Anytime you need us, let us know and we'll beat them up for you". I wished I could say that the Hispanic voters in Texas let alone Florida were far better than this but decades of abandoning Texas and now Florida by the Dems (aside from John Connelly, Lloyd Bentson, Henry Cuellar, etc... bluedawg mofos) can only lead to these tragic outcomes.

Looks like my other reply on the Florida and Dems part got eaten up by disqus yet again as "detected as spam". Here's a screenshot in case no moderator ever shows up to correct this. Ughhhhh ! https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

Probably the latter. Nor would I put it past someone who works for Disqus. That's happened with some comments of mine. {The later :: that the comment was removed by Disqus itself :: can be done without Disqus even informing those who run the site , something some bloggers get round by designating 'trusted' users.}

So many questions. Did the condemned apt building collapse on top of you? Were you and the others able to rescue all the pets inside? Did you have to spend time in the hospital, have surgery? Hospitals really suck. I'm guessing you also had to go through a bunch of physical therapy. I had no clue. I wish someone could have given us a heads up. I thought you were enjoying life in the real world and perhaps doing a lot of traveling. Hopefully, you'll make a full recovery. Jeez. SMFH

We knew the Dems would blow it in Florida like they always do. I can't even begin to understand why the DNC invests so little in my State and keeps running the same old failed candidates year after year. It's like they can't/won't find new blood. Charlie Crist should be the last guy running to dethrone DeSantis given that his attack ads write themselves, using his own words. Crist has been a Republican/Independent/Dem, which means he's been on public record on every side of every issue. He looks like a stereotypical Hollywood politician. Perhaps he should next try acting. He might be more successful. DeSantis should be easy to defeat since he's made so many new enemies since the last election. DeSantis only won by 1% of the vote in 2018, so he shouldn't have been able to lose much support and win reelection...

I think the Dems let the FOX EN talking points that Dems are soft on crime get under their skin. That's why they run candidates who have to promote law enforcement during their campaigns. IOW, Dems lost the narrative. It shouldn't be hard to hammer the GQP with what happened Jan 6, 2021 and with Trump and abortion and democracy's fragility, but instead, Dems tend to go on defensive, which means that they've already surrendered to the GQP. It's hard to watch them lose elections they should be winning by double digits. Hopefully, the pollsters are getting this election completely wrong but I'm not holding my breath. I bet a lot of GQP support comes from those who only care about being on the winning side and know that the GQP wins far more than it loses. No one wants to support a Party that's constantly losing. The Dem Party is perceived as weak, which costs it votes...

Not sure why this time but my earlier reply somehow got chewed up by disqus as "detected as spam" that it isn't. Perhaps it was my quoting from a site? Here's part of my reply minus the part I think tripped disqus:

Thank you. I've had some chances along the way to get informed and caught up on what's going on. I just remembered your state and that election on an R from prison getting no opposition.

As of now, I don't see any Dem pickup in the Senate other than Fetterman and even there, I don't know. It's not Fetterman's health but when he said YES to fracking that I think he botched it. Really wished Fetterman had stuck to his 2018 position of NO FRACKING which would have also helped him hammer Oz on his flip-flopping on that issue. Now I don't know. I'll also confess I think that Fetterman's other weakness was not showing himself to be an outstanding progressive but instead running mainly on "supporting Biden's agenda" when Biden's agenda itself has changed since he took office and for the worse but since when did Biden ever really want to be the next FDR, LBJ, or even Bernie Sanders? Still, I don't see Oz picking up enough support from MAGA base. Now Ohio otoh I don't see Tim Ryan winning despite Vance showing his truly abominable colors in broad daylight since there's not likely enough voters to counter staunch RWNJs and Tim Ryan himself kind of smells of political Manchin residue. I see Kelly staggering in AZ lately although if he loses, all efforts will be made to protect Sinema and deflect blame.

PPS: In my state, that rotten Sean Patrick Maloney of DCCC who went out on a limb in NY-17 and successfully pushed Mondaire Jones out is now staggering in the general election. Yes, my state is pathetic enough to the point a Cuomo appointed judge got to redraw the maps in R favor. But then Mondaire was way too nice to him and that's another fundamental issue I see with so-called "progressive Democrats" in power - failure to use leverage and letting conservadems bully and steal. More on that in another post when I get a chance.

I don't think they're even center left but simply party loyalty only. They don't even care for us city folks other than to take us for granted and either blame us if they lose or deflect credit away from us if they win.
