The Brighton Beach Russian mafia were more imaginative.

The Orange Oaf made a career of stiffing contractors. Likely the WSJ thinks it is sound business practice.

Saw my first 'Paxton' campaign sign in my neighborhood today. As expected, it was in the yard of some dickweed crazy MAGAt that had the most obnoxious tRumps signs I've ever seen.

Noma Larkey's avatar

On the flip side, LOTS of Talarico signs!

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

These people are insane. When I lived in Daytona Beach, a resident of the apartment building next door put a Gilliam sign in her windows. The next day, the guy upstairs from her covered his windows with DeSantis signs, INCLUDING the windows of his PT Cruiser (yes, of course he drove a PT Cruiser).

Wow, I did not know weasels are so tiny! I thought they were at least bigger than squirrels.

Between 8 inches long to 5 feet seven inches long in the family. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mustelidae

I just spent the last hour getting my 85 year old mother (400 mlles away) logged back into her email. Authentication codes are sent to my sister who has a contentious relationship with my mother. So then my sister is yelling at me "I DO NOT WANT TO TALK TO HER!" I am all like "JUST GIVE ME THE FUCKING CODE!" - now that it is all over I just want to say FUCK TIM COOK - and FUCK JOHN TURNUS IN ADVANCE. (technology shouldn't be so hard)

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

I HATE THOSE CODES! I don't want to give online companies my phone number.

paxpax's avatar

It would have made a great comedy skit - I tell her the six-digit code. She says back to me "you have to tell me the numbers ONE AT A TIME!" (meanwhile I am texting my sister telling her this is going to fucking time out before we get through these six numbers) - (fortunately we didn't time out)

455 Rocket Cat, Space Donkey's avatar

Oh lort, bless you…but may be time to discuss her future if your sib cannot help (which is real and valid)

paxpax's avatar

Mom is independent still in her own house still drives - got logged OUT of her email somehow. She drives a new Mazda - she gets logged out of her APPLE CAR PLAY and then she drives to the dealer and makes them log her back in. True story. I gave her some tips for getting back in - but found out that MANY PEOPLE get easily logged out of Apple Car Play. So again - FUCK TIM COOK.

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

My step mother does the same thing if she can't get onto the online banking. She takes her laptop to BOA. She's 80 and very independent.

Hegseth as President boggles the mind. But it also forces us to confront that Trump being President in actuality is somewhat beyond belief itself.

paperlesstiger's avatar

Ike was not completely crazy, but I think he was a fluke for the Republicans.

Bitter Scribe's avatar

He was no fluke. He was a war hero. A real one, not like Pete Hegseth.

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

Who are you talking about? That orange bag of shit was a known draft dodger.

lotsacatsndogs's avatar

But many Republicans blame Hicseth for the war, and haaate him. He's got zero coattails.

Pauly2coffees's avatar

So, you thought we couldn’t do worse? Think again!

Bitter Scribe's avatar

I forgot the Stanford-Hawai'i game until it was already the third quarter. I cursed myself when I tuned it in. I cursed even more when Stanford, ahead 16-7 (yay!), staged a run from Hawai'i's 2 and the running back seemingly fumbled on the goal line, recovered by Hawai'i.

Cut to a clutch of commercials. When ESPN finally put the game back on, the announcers casually informed us that it was really 22-7 because while the ads were airing, the officials had reviewed the play and ruled that the Cardinal RB actually had scored before he fumbled.

Then the announcers proceeded to apologize for ESPN stuffing the broadcast so full of ads that they missed that whole process HAHAHAHAHAHA just kidding. They proceeded to grumble and grouse about the reversal, then run the play in super-slo-mo again and again, before finally, grudgingly, admitting that the reversal was correct and it was indeed a TD.

Fuck off and die, ESPN.

Joe McCarthy, who was Trump before Trump, hired as an "investigator" on his staff an ex-FBI agent who got fired by J. Edgar Hoover for moving in with a prostitute from a sex-work ring he was investigating.

Tail Gunner Joe got lucky. If this enlightened policy had been in place at the FBI in the 1950s, he would have been deprived of this fellow's talents.

Yep, from the one real news source I saw, johns are now AOK, but NOT prostitutes.

All of Pete's military education came from reading "Sgt. Rock and His Howling Commandos". Plus ODing on WWII era war movies that were overt propaganda.

Giant birthday party descends on ice cream shop just before I get there. Unorganized, undecided on details, kids everywhere, spent $140. Three high schoolers working their asses off behind the counter. Didn't tip. Not cool. I get not tipping the guy who pours your to go coffee, but these kids are working hard for college and beer and weed. I tipped 50% for the two frappes.

goCatgo's avatar

I was at the check out in a convenience store in Wyoming, paying for stuff. I noticed a tip jar on the counter. I guess I looked at it a bit too long, cause the young lady said "That's my tip jar." I said "yes, sorry, I just don't see tip jars in stores like this in California." She kept ringing my stuff up and said "I'm just trying to save to get out of this town." I said nothing, paid my bill and put a few bucks in her jar on the way out. She yelled "Thank you sir!" as I left. I bet she got out. A few miles out I thought "Hey, I'm going to California! I could have offered her a ride." But I had 3 daughters older than her so I just sighed and kept going.

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

I am glad you shared this because last night I experienced something that really confused me. Our group was over 5, so an automatic 15% gratuity was added. In these instances, I have still always left a tip. However, one person, when she learned that yhe gratuity was added, asked for her tip back. 15% is very low for the extra work a large group requires.

Zyxomma's avatar

NO!! Whichever adults brought that giant party to the ice cream parlor should be shunned and excluded from polite society, forever. Service like that merits a 25% tip at minimum.

455 Rocket Cat, Space Donkey's avatar

Sometimes it is built in to large orders automatically in the total, but I dunno…sad. Ice creammshoukd not be sad.

Google maps still has Lake Ontario as the name of that lake.

Now would be a good time for them (and Apple) to fix the Gulf of Mexico. MapQuest is sitting back looking smug.

noname's avatar

Probably because that's its name, and aspiring dictators don't actually just get to rename everything they want.

It says Gulf of America though.

If the Hormuz Strait becomes a US territory as FOTUS talks about, Iranians can go give birth there and become US citizens. I know FOTUS or his admin has not sand tabled that scenario. I suppose it's good red meat for the dwindling base though.
