Let me ruin your day completely: I hope folks here understand that no matter how the appellate court decides, their ruling can most likely be appealed to the GA supreme court, too?
Also funny how many people care about this case ... but not enough to accept that the all reasons it gets delayed by months, if not years ... are consequences of decisions made by the DA (or her ego).
She decided to have an affair with the guy she hired, and whose insane billing sheets she signed.
She decided to testify herself, and leaving the judge wondering in the end if she lied under oath.
Those were all her decisions, which she could have completely avoided.
Okay, I read through all the comments and non-comments to make sure that somebody else didn't get here first. I am required by Massachusetts law to remind everyone that, under the right circumstances, molasses in January flows fast enough to kill people. At least it did on January 15, 1919, in the North End of Boston. It was a fascinating combination of events, including an unseasonably warm day, that produced the Great Molasses Flood.
No kidding. I really need to read Stephen Puleo's book "Dark Tide". I bought it for my husband when the author was the keynote speaker at the Real Estate Bar Association spring meeting several years ago, where he was talking about his then newest book, "American Treasures", about how the US government secured some of our most iconic founding documents as World War II heated up.
Remember the woman who said that she was tied to a bed when she was 13 years old and raped by Trump out on Evil Island? The one who was willing make a statement about this? And then changed her mind at the last minute?
This would be a kind of amazing time for her to resurface, such that I would start believing in the alternate timeline theory.
GA holding two hearings about the (re-elected) DA instead of holding a trial of the criminal defendants charged with election crimes (some in multiple jurisdictions) is how we lose faith in the justice system. WTF GA appeals court? Set a date 5 months away, they didn't need to hear it at all, it's a BS harassment claim by one of the multiple jurisdiction indicted defendants! Clearly a conflict when political affiliation is Republican, but did any of them recuse? Of course not, Party of lawlessness and disorder.
So much for the arc of the moral universe bending towards justice. The ONLY way Trump gets his comeuppance is if WE THE PEOPLE make sure he doesn't darken the White House yet again.
It still does bend towards justice. It's just that sometimes events in the moment feel like they are obscuring it.
You think that everybody thought that the universe wasn't going along in the correct direction during WW1 or 2? Of course they likely wouldn't have, because those were large scale horrific events.
Trump is but a blip in the march of time. An annoying blip, but meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
I try and remain hopeful, but the evil arrayed against us are formidable. The people in powerful positions whether it be police, judges, politicians, etc. are overwhelmingly white, male conservatives. This up until fairly recently has not been able to prevent progress from occurring. People of color elected, laws enforced, and basic decency still the order of the day. But we have reached another stage which is the REQUIREMENT that these powers ignore laws, decency, and tradition. If you're a judge you make decisions that don't have a legal leg to stand on, and then have them confirmed by the same kind of judge. With police it is a requirement that you look away when white assholes break the law. With prosecutors it is the refusal to prosecute. Also, too, you can combine the previous two with the opposite treatment of people they don't like, police cracking down on small shit if they don't like you or your kind, and prosecutors finding the smallest thing to put you in jail. The judges in Georgia don't care what anybody thinks, any more than Alito and Thomas give a shit. They justify all of this based on their believed superiority and their unwillingness to share power. We can criticize and ridicule all we want but they will carry on. And as Jon Stewart says, if the only people within society willing to call them to account is a fair trial they refuse to even allow, then we are fucked.
It's going to take a lot of work to fix the corrupt judicial system, but putting Dems in the majority in 2 branches might just save the 3rd. Hoping people won't fall for Russian disinfo like they did in 2016.
Well -- the Russians are certainly not going to sit still -- they're going to try again, and they're going to start as early as the Democratic National Convention.
These cases will not save us and we must face President Klan Robe and his enablers down this fall, hand them a shellacking they'll never forget. Check your registration; check it twice.

Ta, Marcie. I loathe all forms of Dominionism.
Marcie going all in on the Deep South lingo...
I know the "Old Line State" is technically considered the south, but are you not a native crab caker, Ms Jones? That was a very Evan-esque post.
Like Tucker, I'm "just asking questions", but unlike him I actually AM curious. 😎

Many Thanks!

We the People have to PUSH it in order to make it bend.
It does not bend by itself.

It only bends towards justice because of all the pulling good people do. Justice is not a natural thing, you have to create it.
can't even read this....too frustrating. I need my stories to have a twist of hope mixed in...

Mount up!
If he loses (strike that, WHEN he loses) it'll be a fsetival of losing as all these cases come to life.
Assumptions are not safe.
We cannot assume our voting rights are safe.
