"just under a quarter of “non-MAGA Republicans” say they support Ossoff, which is fairly impressive, although the poll didn’t say what portion of Georgia Republicans are “non-MAGA.”"

Sorry Dok, but this is almost as divisive as the bovine scat being spread by the RINOs. That there are non-MAGA Repubs is a given; as I've said before (and usually slammed for saying it) we need to reach out to this demographic and them a helping hand to reenter American society, not ostracize them like MAGA others nonbelievers. This also applies to the MAGA-adjacent and MAGA-fringe. It's damn near impossible to carry on a meaningful dialog and try to convince someone else that they may be mistaken if the first thing you say is an insult. The US is still a two party country -- although IMO we need at least one more viable party -- and we all need to accept that.

(Yes, I'm also guilty of name-calling and belittling RINOs, MAGAdroids, and those who consume mass quantities of the MAGA blue pill but I have always tried to see a difference between these fine folk and someone who still believes in the Republican Party of more normal times, those who want to see it reemerge like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.)

"grant tungsten mining rights to an American company. And the very next month, Eric and Don Jr. get a stake in the American company pursuing the mining deal.

Six days later, six days after Prince Eric and Prince Don get their stake, Kazakhstan announces this company will get “The largest known undeveloped tungsten resource in the world.”"

The Trump Crime Family is having a hard time deciding if the US is a kleptocracy, oligarchy, plutocracy, some combination of two, or all three. IOW, their sole concern is how to further enrich themselves, and usually at the expense of Jane and John on the street.

I usually just go "ewwww" to most American political ads but that one had me going "ooooooooo, nice". Especially using the down home, earthy, accent for the narrator.

Well played, Oss(CollinsCanFuck"off!

For Ossoff, this is a been there, done that situation so he is surely prepared to amp up his previous strategies that got him elected. In 2020 (the same election also put Warnock in office) Ossoff ran against David Perdue - who had massive name recognition in GA. The election went to run off because neither got 50%, with Ossoff two points behind Perdue. With two months to the run off, Perdue threw out the Democratic party campaign hand book. He re-initiated door knocking that had been cancelled due to COVID, hired 30 new staffers, and decided to go after Black and young voters. He succeeded. Having been elected to the permanent position a couple of years later, Ossoff now knows how to win in GA. He'll run a better, smarter, more vigorous campaign than the dipshit bigot. He will be elected again.

Also, I think that not just Democrats are behind Ossoff, I think Independents in their majority are also going to be behind him. GA doesn't register voters by party. But information from the most recent primary ballot turnout shows that Democrats vastly outnumbered Republicans, and further that there were even slightly more Independents who voted than Republicans. I think this enthusiasm gap is going to carry through till November because neither trump nor his dipshit bigot choice are going to get people excited about voting.

Don't leave anything up to chance! Ignore the polls and make sure you have jumped your voter suppression hoops now...and are ACTIVE. Be ready to mount up this fall, Georgia peeps!

Remember, if voting weren't powerful Republicans wouldn't work so hard to prevent you doing it!

Sorry to keep beating this drum, But Ossoff also voted for the Laken Riley Act. I'm willing to support him if he issues an apology for voting for that Act that has caused so much shame and misery to this country,

The way to win elections, go negative early and often, deny you are going negative, and accuse your opponent of going negative. Sadly voters respond to that way more than a positive vision. I am so happy to see Democrats finally getting on board. More of this please.

On the bright side AI will soon combine all 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse into one.

Much more efficient. No Siri, or Alexa or any name. Name it what you want. I'll call mine "Shithead."

OT: It so damn hot. I had an appointment in town, and there's barely anyone out there, except those with dogs who have to take care of business.

There was also one person in the park. She was in a bikini and sunbathing.

In the 15 min it took to get my esthetician, I got noticeable tan lines from my dress and sandals.

It's 101 by me. Might go to 102. I walked through the garden section at Lowes looking for some things. Thought about asking for help. Instead I parked the cart, went back to the car and came home. Which is where I will be staying.

Was just out in the garden for a half hour moving some stuff around and I am drenched.

96º Had thought I might venture out to the Esplanade tomorrow to hear the Boston Pops but that idea is quickly wilting . . .

It's a fucking monsoon right now where I live. And it's still 87 F out.

Oh well, time to go watch more soccer and have some lunch.

100° feels like 110° here in my part of NC. 2 more hours until our expected high. Since it was to have been 100, I dare not imagine what’s coming. We are keeping the thermostat high to spare the grid but my son has solar and is a really cool dude with power left over at the end of every month. We can’t have solar because I’m hanging onto my gorgeous giant trees.

About an hour ago the sky's turned dark, winds and thunderstorm warnings.

After all that, it's 74 °f humidity seems low.

Relief!

Possible storms tonight and tomorrow to hopefully put a damper on merikkkas fireworks.

I knew this article wasn’t written by Evan because there was no mention of how fucking hot Jon Ossoff is, so I would like my comment pointing out this failure added to the official Wonkette record.

"Who is winning the 3D-printed remote-controlled cyborg cockroach wars?" you ask?

"...a team of Singaporean researchers is showing off the latest accomplishment in the area. The productive researchers are proudly presenting their potent new 3D-printed variant: a remote-controlled, cyborg cockroach equipped with IR cameras that can breathe underwater for hours on end., the team led by Hirotaka Sato at Nanyang Technological University has been working with the much-hated pest for a good while, outfitting them with infrared cameras in a bid to help rescue operations by steering the roaches in disaster areas to find survivors. To be clear, as the release notes, Cyborg insects are living insects that have been retrofitted with technology. Sato's team had already demonstrated an orchestrated swarm of the little beasties in 2024, but reportedly wasn't happy with the fact that they couldn't send them through water, and went back to the drawing board to fix that...
