Big cat kiddo resists helplessly while Mom slicks down his cowlick or whatever. Moms are the same all over.

To mothers

A mother's love is hard to beat

It's patient and comes quick

Gentle pat upon the head

A cleansing loving lick

The child resists and gets annoyed

But one day he will find

When mother is no longer there

She lingers in his mind.

Mine, too.

And you know what? My mother felt the same about her mother, until she died at 93. She told me, "I still miss my mother." So, I don't feel too odd when I think, "I want my Mama."

Truth. Mine died far too young --63. Car crash. Not over it, and never will be.

I hear her in my head right much. When things are going sideways, sometimes hers is the only voice of reason I can hear.

How sweet! A leopard Mama washing her babby. Leopards can be tender with those that they love, but those that they hate, they are vicious. Instead of grooming faces, they eat the faces of those they hate.

NYT: "President Trump said on Truth Social that the debt ceiling, a limit to how much the government can borrow without further approval, should be entirely scrapped. “It is too devastating to be put in the hands of political people that may want to use it despite the horrendous effect,” Trump said of the debt ceiling.

Trump raised the idea of getting rid of the debt ceiling in an interview with NBC News in December, before he returned to the White House. But his comment at the time was an about-face for the president, who had encouraged Republicans in 2023 to use the nation’s borrowing cap as political leverage to force concessions from then-President Biden."

Here's a tab for you: remember the U Michigan president who left abruptly for U Florida and had his name removed from an open letter supporting academic freedom? I'm guessing Florida decided he, too, would be a DEI hire because they rejected him for their presidency, too: https://www.freep.com/story/news/education/2025/06/03/santa-ono-rejected-florida-president/84017086007/

One might congratulate Latino independents for their patriotic achievement of becoming just as fucking stupid as native-born Anglo independents. America!

Or, one might grudgingly acknowledge that maybe independents aren't quite as dumb as they seem. Given that MAGA still loved Trump, it does seem that independents' Trump votes were more about Change than Trump himself. They were a bit dumb in believing that Trump would be mostly "safe" way to spank Democrats. But let's face it, even we who had no illusions about Trump were still ourselves kinda shocked at how rapidly and blatantly lawless his regime would actually be. Americans have little experience of this shit.

But I gotta say that DEMOCRATS are being even dumber in not listening to the cry for change that was the election* last year.

But no, "bipartisan moderates" are up to their old trucks and are once again riding to the rescue against the extremists. By which they mean Progressives. The corruption and collusion wing of the party never seems to get as worked up about actual Nazis.

https://www.salon.com/2025/06/04/what-it-means-to-be-a-partisan-centrist-at-welcomefest-a-billionaire-backed-vision-for-democrats/

Don't be fooled by Harper Pope saying one nice thing about Progressives. Look at the rogue's gallery of politicians and journalists backing it. Any initiative that can boast Gluesenkamp-Perez, Matt Yglesias and "Democratic" Murdochs is no friend.

(* Please do not go on about Trump's narrow margin of a relative handful of swing-state voters. For every one of them, there were a dozen or two who stayed home because Democrats just can't be trusted to protect their constituents' interests as much as their donors'.)

I had a dental appointment this morning, so I drove my wife into work so that I could use the car to get to my appointment. A little before getting to her office, there is a mural calling for justice for a student who was murdered a few years back, which led to me claiming "At this point, there will be no justice for Josiah," which triggered her to discuss the recently-resigned university president (don't worry -- while he is no longer in charge of the university, he was given a token position so that he can continue to draw a salary at the university's expense until he retires, at which he becomes the state's burden), who apparently was strongly encouraged to no longer provide the annual welcome to campus speech that former presidents had given for decades. Apparently his speech after the murder of Josiah Lawson, where he said that if students went to bed before 10 pm, none of this bad stuff would happen, and then his later speech after some serious Title IX issues, where he said that these things wouldn't happen if people learned to keep secrets, convinced his staff that letting him speak was a mistake. Anyway, those are my morning thoughts.
