True story: Facebook deleted a post I made and permanently screwed up my access to my Facebook memories by my listing "Oswald Mosely" as the answer to a trivia question. I won't go into the details of how the BBC quiz game "Only Connect" works, except to note that in one round you list a group of related answers that have a connecting theme. To write such questions, you need to be sure that no similar theme would also connect the four names. The question I wrote for the amateur group involved persons who held the anomalous UK cabinet position of "Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster", a sort of minister without portfolio, someone put in the cabinet without ever having a cabinet department.
So I came up with a list of three people who, purposely misleadingly, held other important posts, and added Mosely, who held no other cabinet post, as the final clue. And literally the moment I posted his name on Facebook, I got a message saying that my post was being removed and that I was being banned from posting on the site for 30 days. I wrote to the administrator, who was sympathetic and claimed to have nothing do with it. I "appealed", but Facebook appeals, as far as I can tell, are done by the same AI that issued the initial ruling. My very reasonable explanation, and the point that I was in no sense endorsing any position of Oswald Mosely, but instead pointing out the absolutely true fact that he did serve in the UK cabinet, was met with "sorry, not changing our ruling". And no further appeal possible.
One wonders if today (Republican Iowa attorney general Brenna Bird announced that she and Meta were entering into a partnership to stop online fraud, as if) you could create a "Friends and Admirers of Oswald Mosely" Facebook group and get a nice message suggesting you seek to share ad revenue with them.
Speaking of tiresome nags, Scoldilocks herself is leaving her job finger wagging at the media to spend more time bullyragging her family. You can’t spell “Karoline” without “Karen!”

Robyn, I have found the cure for embarrassment. You gotta do a couple of weeks in jail.... you see, when you know you are going to the pokey for a couple of weeks, you plan well. A brand new pack of underwear ought to do the trick. The problem is, once they take you in and give you the Silkwood shower and throw de-lousing powder at you, and they finally click the cell door shut behind you, you learn from other inmates that if you send your underwear to the laundry, IT NEVER COMES BACK.... so you figure, "o.k., couple two days per pair and I am in like Flynn!" Then the stir gets to you. They require that you shave if you are going out on work detail, but it is a used box of rusty disposable razors that have been used by other inmates that you gotta scrape across your face and you decide, "fuck that, I am NOT getting some weirdo convict disease", so you sit in your cell and wait... and the days get longer... when you have finally gone nuts, you take the rusty blade and scrape 10 days of growth off of your face and get work release building the new jail. 10 hours in the hot sun, but at least you are out of the cell for a day.
the problem is, when you get back, there is a contraband search that they didn't tell you about..... so you drop your drawers to your ankles and you squat and cough so they can be sure you haven't shoved something up your ass.... so you are squatting down, looking at your own dirty drawers that you have been sweating in all day... there is no more whitey in your tighties... and you cough.
this is the end of embarrassment for the rest of your life. It doesn't get any worse. I haven't felt a day of shame or embarrassment in the last 30 years. It was a blessing.
Someone should cover AOC's Insa story about freezing her eggs. It's really amazing because she's covering women's healthcare rights, insurance, hormone therapy, cost of healthcare, gender politics, and it is amazing the level of transparency, honesty, and connecting with her constituency. It's something to feel good about.
