They thought of south Italians as “parasites” and literally advocated for prioritising northerners for COVID aid on account of the “greater economic value of their lives”. Our right wing is *shit*.

"She opposes abortion rights; opposes same sex marriage and unions (Italy still only has civil unions); opposes the ability of same-sex couples to adopt and opposes (pregnancy) surrogacy and wants to make it a crime for Italians to use a surrogate even if they leave the country to do so; opposes living wills; opposes Italy's "Citizen's Income" (an up to €780-a-month payment for job-seekers); and hates immigrants and Muslims."

Sounds like a Republican. Do you think if we pointed out that the Republican party has the same policies as literal actual fascists in Europe it would get through to some of these "future former republicans" that mayor peter was yapping about?

Of course, "Meloni is in favor of free daycare, maternity leave, child subsidies for the less well-off, and guaranteed flexible work (called lavoro agile or "smart work") for women with children under 16. So our own fascists are actually more extreme. Then again, being against abortion and for day care is the reasonable position to hold when you view labor as a resource, to be exploited and used up like any other resource (which means our own breed is fascist and unreasonable). When Meloni says "she has a peaceful relationship with fascism," what she means is, "Italy is open for business!" in the most dystopian neo-con way imaginable.

Public discourse is always murky about what exactly fascism is, but that is because our societies are so heavily fascist already - our elites don't want you to recognize the similarities. But the man who created fascism, Benito Mussolini, knew exactly what it is, and he told us exactly what it is: "Fascism should more properly be called Corporatism, for it is the merger of State and Corporate Power." In essence, regulatory capture of the entire federal system. In simple fact, national slavery in the service of capital.

Meloni is telling the banks of the world, "go ahead and bend us over, we're ready to take it."

Rittenhouse strikes me as the kind of person who sooner or later will do something that gets him convicted of a crime, or killed in one.

It was a week or two sometimes when I lived there, coalitions recoalescing regularly as the fascists, Catholics, Communists, Socialists, and Democratic Socialists took differing/somewhat overlapping views of each issue, and no cohesive structure aligned them (the mafia having been somewhat suppressed during that era). Multiparty democracy with well-matched factions is quite entertaining, lots of crazy stories in the papers like the official getting waylaid on a backroad and shot in the leg, but the investigators found a press release in the briefcase he had in the car denouncing the terroristic attack. In the car, at the time of the attack. Hmm. OK but that's a hardly weird story compared to lots of others. I was planning to go to the Gentle Giant concert, but the night before the Fascists showed up and busted up the crowd with steel rods so the organizers decided not to continue. At least I saw Zappa the month before, no more good concerts for a while. Once coming out of the movies, the Red Brigades were attacking a police line in front of the cinema, lots of tear gas, I grabbed my little sister and ran for it down an alley to a butcher shop that let us in as they were closing the security grate. Riots went by after... crazy place, I love it.

I think your decoder ring malfunctioned. "I'm at peace with Fascism" means "I'm a Fascist." If she wasn't a fascist, something more like "I'm not a Fascist!" might be more credible.

There was also record-low turnout, and although the PD, the Five Star Movement and other center-left and centrist parties got more votes in total, the FdI's alliances helped it surge to victory.

*stares at that entire line a few times*

Record low turnout and vote splitting leads to fascism? YOU DONT SAYJesus fuck, world, wake up
