My brother and I took ballet classes when we were 7+8. ANY formal dance instruction and practice is simply a good thing for a kid--good for physical and mental development. I gave it up after a year because soccer was more my thing, but my brother carried on, went to the Royal Ballet School, then on to Rambert, and danced professionally for ten years. It is a very tough art---nothing 'girly' about it.
My six-year-old son's buddy has a pair of dance professor parents. They told us that our boy has bone structure and body proportions that would likely help him excel in dance. Thankfully, we're not morons. Instead of laughing and ridiculing seasoned and well-meaning professionals, we're shopping around for schools to let our son explore dance. He's also been studying (and enjoying) kung fu for over a year because I had wonderful experiences with it as a young man and always wished my parents would have let me start as a child. It takes a special kind of cruel streak to ridicule a child for exploring self-enrichment activities.
My son took ballet right alongside his sister for four years when he was a kid and loved it. He eventually moved on to baseball and football, but he’s going to study abroad in Spain this semester, and the class he’s most excited about taking is flamenco dancing. Dancing is for life, baby.
Also this particular little boy is potentially going to be a king someday and he will need a well rounded education, which whatshername Spencer obvs doesnt have.
well, she knows her audience. The people who watch GMA have never read a poem or seen a ballet, and the closest they've come to programming is Farmville.
Are you referring to Princess Diana? You seem unnecessarily cruel.
IKR?! Adam Cooper comes flying out of the wings and I went batshit crazy!

Fuck yeah!
Is it safe to dance?
As you know, dancers create great beauty and pay a steep physical toll.
Spencer might receive the British cold version of rage, if she was even worthy of their attention.
A room full of dancing squares. Not for me.

This is beautiful, yet not even the big stuff, yet so challenging.

Didn't he just die? And no, it is not too soon to mock.
You ever taken a ballet class? Not for sissies. NFL players take class.
