Is there any way to write about the wrongful imprisonment of Michael Morton thanks to prosecutorial misconduct that doesn't result in us throwing our computer across the room by the end of the first sentence?
Happy may not be so happy about the idea of getting fixed- it does tend to make websites more docile, but they also tend to put on weight. On the plus side, Happy will be far less likely to lift its leg and mark on the side of Wonkville
I'm always struck by conservative/Republican affection for tough law enforcement and the death penalty with their avowed distaste for government power. The death penalty, after all, gives the government the legal right to kill its own citizens which is a lot of power.
The same hypocritical dynamic shows up in abortion, wanting government-run prayer in schools, torture and so forth.
The argument they would make, I think, is that a moral or safety imperative supersedes limiting government power. But hunger in a land of plenty is (to me) immoral. Someone dead from a treatable disease is just as dead as from a murderer or terrorist.
Here's a nice little tidbit: Texas used to have a local grassroots project similar to the Innocence Project, but it was funded by one generous and committed donor.
Man, I wish I lived in Anderson's town, just so that I could publicly confront this dick and denounce him to his face every stinking day for the rest of his worthless life.

I suppose there's slim consolation in the fact that he may have died of old age by now. It's been 25 years, after all.
if jesus were here, he would be the innocence project.
