OT--we know that ICE can't figure out how to check for proof of citizenship, so if they were doing anything besides standing around at the airports--and from what I've seen so far, that's all they're doing--there would be a lot of missed flights and a lot of "I think this Real ID is fake" and "this isn't a US passport, can you even fly?"
But here's what also occurred to me...ICE at polling sites. No matter what, the administration's going to claim that they now have "very strong" experience in checking IDs, so now they should "help" do that at polling places, and they're going to either scare legit voters and/or just say "this is fake ID" to anyone who they want and keep them from voting.
ALSO! Earlier today someone asked whose idea putting ICE in the airports was and of course he said it was all his idea (though it came from Fox News). But of course it was "ICE was MY IDEA" and then he went on a wander about how it's like the guy who "discovered" the paperclip "182 years ago" (who gave him that number?). And everyone was like "why didn't I think of that?"
Krugman wrote this morning that Trump made this all up as a face-saving way to back down from his war crimes threat. Iran confirmed - there are no talks. Trump just TACOing.
Sigh. In the end, he passed up indicting The Felon because he was President and couldn't be prosecuted. He came to that conclusion not via the constitution but by DOJ policy. He chose institution over law and constitution. He could have saved America. He didn't.
