I wanted to say this yesterday when you posted this--I LOVE robins so much! When I was a kid of 12 or so, robins made a nest in a low branch of our apple tree over our deck. I was sitting out there when the fledglings started their first trip out of the nest (looking all puffed out and sweet). They couldn't quite make it anywhere, so they all landed on my head and shoulders. I just held very still and felt like Snow White. My grandma said, "my granddaughter can charm the birds from the trees!"

This is one of my favorite memories, and you reminded me of it, Martini!

I have always been amazed at the speed with which they dunk their heads in the water. It happens so fast you don't see any transitional motion at all - one moment they are upright, and a microsecond later underwater.

This was delightful. Thank you for helping me find a smile in an otherwise pretty drab Monday mood.

We have a bird bath and robins are the most enthusiastic bathers of all the birds.

So cute. I was thinking about European Robins yesterday, as my neighborhood American Robin has returned for pre-spring. I know it's her, she's at the window waiting for grapes and suet nuggets already, LOL I keep meaning to look up if there is any relation between the two species, or just the lazy American way.......oh look, a red breast, must be a robin. Thanks for the beautiful gif.

There is no relation. The European relatives of the American robin are not the European robins but rather the thrushes

Almost time, birdies! Another couple weeks and it is clear out and set up and the bird baths will be on

Note: I do not feed birds, cause we got stray cats and hawks and other murder machines and I'd feel bad setting them up like that, so I plant instead things for them to eat and hide in. But I do the bird baths because even with murder machines I cannot help it, they are so cute taking their baths XD

Some film from game cams trained on birdbaths show parades of all sorts of animals using them. I don't have the patience to keep up thr birdbath, but I plant things for the birds too. My main audience is the hummingbirds but I like them all.

No one is talking about the Oscars? I guess they were pretty boring. The biggest surprise of the night for me was how well Doja Cat can sing. I will have to watch Anora. And I would like to see Sing Sing. My friend read Nickel Boys and said it was devastating. I don't know if I can handle that right now.
